Bowers says he'd vote for Trump again.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...020-push-was-illegal-hed-vote-him-again-2024/

    excerpt:

"Arizona House Speaker Russell “Rusty” Bowers testified this week that President Donald Trump wanted him to take illegal, immoral, unprecedented and unconstitutional steps to overturn the 2020 election results in his state. And Trump never provided a shred of evidence for his false claims of voter fraud.

Speaking to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol, Bowers described Trump’s team as “The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight” (except “tragic,” not comic) and detailed a systematic campaign of pressure and harassment after he bucked the president.

But the lifelong Republican, who campaigned and voted for Trump, also declared this week he would cast his ballot for the former president again in 2024.

The same Associated Press interview in which he said Trump’s evidence-free attacks on the legitimacy of the election had proven “very destructive” to Americans’ trust in democracy also includes this: “‘If he is the nominee, if he was up against Biden, I’d vote for him again,’ Bowers said. ‘Simply because what he did the first time, before COVID, was so good for the country. In my view it was great.”"

Bowers is the type of person who, if asked if he'd jump off a bridge if Trump told him to do it, would say, 'Not again. Well, ok. I'd do it again!'

Subpoenas issued to directors of SPAC taking Trump's social network public

    excerpt:

"A federal grand jury in New York has issued subpoenas to each board director of the blank check company that has agreed to take public Donald Trump's social media startup, Truth Social.

Why it matters: This is in addition to previously disclosed investigations into the blank-check company by both the SEC and Justice Department, thus intensifying questions about Truth Social's financial future.

Details: Digital World Acquisition Corp. on Monday disclosed the subpoenas, adding that some of the information requested was about communications with a Miami-based investment firm called Rocket One Capital."

Bowers is also the type who, when confronted with the facts that Trump is an authoritarian who tried to overthrow democracy by inciting an insurrection that killed eleven people, would say, 'Everyone has their little faults.'

Jan. 6 panel calls surprise hearing to present new evidence

    excerpt:

"WASHINGTON (AP) — The House Jan. 6 panel is calling a surprise hearing this week to present evidence it says it recently obtained, raising expectations of new bombshells in the sweeping investigation into the Capitol insurrection.

The hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. on Tuesday comes after Congress left Washington for a two-week recess. Lawmakers on the panel investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection said last week that there would be no more hearings until July.

The subject of the hearings is so far unclear. A spokesman for the panel declined to comment on its substance.

The committee’s investigation has been ongoing during the hearings that started three weeks ago, and the nine-member panel has continued to probe the attack by supporters of then-President Donald Trump. Among other investigative evidence, the committee recently obtained new footage of Trump and his inner circle taken both before and after Jan. 6, 2021 from British filmmaker Alex Holder.

Holder said last week that he had complied with a congressional subpoena to turn over all of the footage he shot in the final weeks of Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign, including exclusive interviews with Trump, his children and then-Vice President Mike Pence while on the campaign trail. The footage includes material from before the insurrection and afterward."

Footage by Holder of Trump sitting in the private dining room of the White House and enjoying the riot on TV while downing a Big Mac while his aides tried unsuccessfully to grab his attention would be a gem.

Trump's cohorts in Congress and at Fox were desperately trying to reach him during the insurrection with no response.

Trump SPAC shares plunge on grand jury subpoena news - CNN

    excerpt:

    "New York CNN Business —

Plans to make former president Donald Trump’s media company public appear to have hit another roadblock.

Digital World Acquisition Corp. — the special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) that has agreed to merge with Trump Media & Technology Group — said in a regulatory filing Monday that its board members have received subpoenas from a federal grand jury in the Southern District of New York related to due diligence regarding the deal.

Shares of the blank-check company plunged nearly 10% on the news Monday. The stock has now lost more than half its value this year, adding to doubts about the merger going through.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has already subpoenaed Digital World itself requesting similar information.

Digital World also announced in the SEC filing that one of its directors, Bruce Garelick, informed the company that he was resigning effective June 22."

MAGA rioting 'leader' who sprayed chemicals on cops faces only 4-to-5 years in prison — even after guilty plea

    excerpt:

"A Florida man described by the FBI as a “de facto leader” of the U.S. Capitol riot mob for his violent attacks on police has pleaded to multiple felony charges in connection with the January 6 attack.

Mitchell Todd Gardner II, 34, of Seffner, Florida, signed a plea agreement providing for a sentencing range of 46 to 57 months and fines ranging $20,000 to $200,000. That’s among the higher totals for defendants who have plead guilty to crimes related to the January 6 riot, but anticipates Gardner asking that fines not be imposed.

“Gardner was part of a mob just outside the Lower West Terrace Tunnel from approximately 3:45 p.m. until at least 4:05 p.m.,” according to a Department of Justice news release. “During that time, he shouted, among other things, “drag them out,” and “pull the cops out.”

“Gardner used a (police pepper spray) device against officers within the tunnel area. The contents hit one officer directly in the face shield and splattered onto two additional officers. This caused the officers to cough for an extended period and also burned their eyes.

“Gardner also urged other rioters to use a ladder to break into a window. When the ladder was not used, Gardner stood on a window ledge outside of a Senate Terrace Room and damaged the window with the Oleoresin Capsicum device. (While inside the Capitol), Gardner “waved other rioters to come closer or into the building. He also handed another rioter what looked to be a table/desk leg; that object was used to assault police officers.”"

California Man Who Questioned the Existence of Ashli Babbitt Gets Jail Time for Jan. 6 Capitol Breach

    excerpt:

"A California man who insists that the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was a peaceful protest has been sentenced to jail time and probation for his admitted actions that day.

Philip James Weisbecker, 51, had pleaded guilty in March to one count of parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building, a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and up to five years of probation. On Monday, Senior U.S. District Judge Thomas Hogan sentenced Weisbecker to 24 months of probation and 30 days of intermittent confinement.

Weisbecker had traveled from San Diego, California, to Washington, D.C., on Jan. 4 in response former President Donald Trump’s call for supporters to attend his so-called “Stop the Steal” rally. At that rally, Trump and his allies — including so-called “coup memo” author John Eastman — repeated the unproven conspiracy theory that Trump’s electoral loss to President Joe Biden was due to widespread voter fraud."

Another gem would be Holder video of Trump throwing documents in the White House toilet and staff trying to retrieve them.

A comedy version of the Holder documentary is needed.

20 Ways the Supreme Court Just Changed America

    excerpt:

"In the wake of changing restrictions, telehealth for abortion has proliferated. Screening for eligibility and pre-abortion counseling take place online, after which the medication is mailed to the patient. The entire process takes three to five days, depending on the patient’s location, and can be hundreds of dollars less than in-person care. So at the same time that Dobbs will return abortion regulation to the states, with half the country poised to ban it, the receipt of abortion pills will be increasingly difficult to control. And when abortion becomes a crime in half the country, the use of telehealth for abortion, where it is legal, and self-managed abortion rates will rise. Because as happens now, though on a smaller scale, people will order medication abortion online to safely end a pregnancy, even without provider assistance.

Some states may turn their attention to policing pills and could target the people who take them. But those laws are going to be hard to enforce, though we should expect that those who lack information and resources will be more likely to be caught and will bear the brunt of state punishment. And, as a few recent laws demonstrate, abortion-supportive states will legislate to expand virtual care, protect providers and patients and invest in telehealth infrastructure. After Dobbs, the next move for both pro- and anti-abortion movements will be complicated not just because of state-by-state variations in policy but also because of the widening gulf between law and access."

Mike Pence Calls for National Abortion Ban

    excerpt:

"Former Vice President Mike Pence praised the Supreme Court’s ruling overturning Roe v. Wade and with it the constitutional right to abortion access. “Today, Life Won,” Pence tweeted. “By overturning Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court of the United States has given the American people a new beginning for life and I commend the Justices in the majority for having the courage of their convictions.”

Pence went on to declare that now that “Roe v. Wade has been consigned to the ash heap of history, a new arena in the cause of life has emerged and it is incumbent on all who cherish the sanctity of life to resolve that we will take the defense of the unborn and support for women in crisis pregnancies to every state Capitol in America. Having been given this second chance for Life, we must not rest and must not relent until the sanctity of life is restored to the center of American law in every state in the land.”"
