Trump Uses ‘Stop the Steal’ Lawyer to Sue Jan. 6 Committee

    excerpt:

"It rehashes some of the same arguments that Trump put forward years ago when trying to stop Democrats in Congress from getting access to his tax returns. And to do that, the lawsuit extensively cites the very same U.S. Supreme Court “Mazars” decision that saved him in 2020, when liberal and conservative justices came together to warn about the “significant separation of powers concerns implicated by congressional subpoenas for the President’s information.”"

Trump will probably have a more difficult time arguing in court against the January 6 committee's current requests to the National Archives compared to his argument about Congress wanting years of his tax records.

In contrast to his tax records, the January 6 Committee is seeking communications on January 5, 2021 between Trump and specific people including Bannon in the context of the Capitol riot which involved criminal activity by Trump's supporters and threatened members of Congress and his own VP at the Capitol. The action of the rioters interfered with the ability of Congress to carry out its duties.

Trump achieved a partial victory in the Supreme Court which ruled that lower courts needed to carefully consider if Congress really needed years of Trump's tax records, but he lost with the court's decision regarding the requests by the Manhattan DA office in its criminal investigation of Trump.

Supreme Court splits on Trump tax cases, potentially shielding returns until after election

    excerpts:

"Chief Justice John Roberts, who authored the majority opinions Thursday in both of the politically sensitive subpoena disputes, said lower-court judges needed to take “a balanced approach” to the congressional subpoenas, closely examining Congress’ need for the information, ensuring that the subpoenas are tailored to those purposes and considering whether there might be alternate sources of information."

"In the case involving a probe Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. is conducting into Trump’s businesses, all the justices rebuffed claims by Trump’s attorneys that he is immune from criminal subpoenas while in office."

Justice Department will need waiver from Biden to prosecute Trump ally Steve Bannon, expert says

    excerpt:

“The real reason Bannon’s executive privilege arguments are so weak is that his testimony about the events leading up to Jan. 6 almost certainly has no relation to Trump’s ‘official’ duties as president and relate solely to actions Trump was taking in his personal and political capacity, which is legally distinct,” Shaub told Yahoo News.

“By definition,” Shaub said, “executive privilege does not protect conversations about undermining the Constitution.”

Justice Department will need waiver from Biden to prosecute Trump ally Steve Bannon, expert says

    excerpt:

"The Justice Department has not responded as to whether the 2007 Clement memo represents its current policy on prosecuting individuals outside the executive branch who are being directed by a former president not to speak to Congress. And the White House hasn’t said whether it believes a waiver of executive privilege from Biden would be needed for Justice to prosecute Bannon.

Biden, however, has already waived executive privilege for documents related to Jan. 6 that the select committee requested from the National Archives."

U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks was a speaker at Trump's January 6 rally before the riot ensuied and requested that the DOJ protect him from civil suits related to the riot.

The premise offered by Brooks was that he was acting in his official capacity as a U.S. House member at Trump's pre-riot rally.

The DOJ clearly rejected his request.

One of Trump's rioters who's been trying to act as his own attorney tried similar ploys. He tried to bill the court an extravagant amount for fees for representing himself. The judge rejected it.

Trump is upset that Sen. Cassidy said that Trump was the only GOP president in history who lost the House, Senate, and White House in one term.

Trump lashes out at 'Wacky' Bill Cassidy over interview criticism

    excerpt:

"Cassidy, 64, won reelection by 40 percentage points over his nearest Democratic competitor in November, while Trump defeated Biden by fewer than 19 percentage points. Cassidy also won 63 of the Pelican State’s 64 parishes in 2020, while Trump won 54 parishes. While Cassidy won approximately 27,000 fewer raw votes than the 45th president, he won a higher percentage of the vote in his race than Trump did in his (59.3 percent to 58.5 percent).

“Now, Wacky Bill Cassidy can’t walk down the street in Louisiana, a State I won by almost 20 points,” Trump said in his email. “He could not even be elected dog catcher today, the great people curse him. Wacky Bill is a totally ineffective Senator, but Louisiana does have a great Senator in John Kennedy.”"

The Supremes are Supreme Liars who only care about their own asses, and would gladly blame their own mothers for their failures. If the democrats take over congress, they will give the assholes all the loving attention they deserve.

If he wasn't on the payroll at the time, there would be no executive privilege defense. He was a co-conspirator ... plain and simple.

Trump hasn't made a similar statement blaming himself and his rioters at the Capitol.

Trump testifies protesters were dressed as Ku Klux Klan members and have 'no one to blame but themselves'

    excerpt:

"Trump wrote in a statement posted to Twitter on Monday that the lawsuit should never have been filed as the plaintiffs “have no one to blame but themselves.”

"Rather than protest peacefully, the plaintiffs intentionally sought to rile up a crowd by blocking the entrance to Trump Tower on 5th Avenue, in the middle of the day, wearing Klu Klux Klan [sic] robes and hoods," he added."

Powell is old school, career military who can never admit in public that his own political party elected the first Commander-in-Chief that, if there were any justice left in the country, should be killed by his own troops. Senility is different for conservatives, and only sets in when they stop denying they are compulsive liars and hypocrits.

Conservatives would rather eat dog shit than admit he's a piece of slim that crawled out of some sewer. They'll all keep up the pretense that anything he says is meaningful, so long as their own ass isn't on the line. The courts will either demonstrate they have teeth left, and aren't a waste of taxpayer dollars, or be lynched by the rest of the population.

Right-wing radio host arrested for involvement in Capitol riot.

Right-Wing Radio Host Arrested and Charged with Stealing U.S. Capitol Police Officer's Baseball Cap on Jan. 6

    excerpt:

"A right-wing radio host stole the baseball cap worn by a U.S. Capitol Police officer who defended Congress on Jan. 6 and wore it during a live stream of one of his broadcasts, federal authorities claimed in court papers released on Monday. Three witnesses who worked at his media outlet allegedly told the FBI that he boasted about stealing several other items from the officer and china plates from the building.

Charged under seal on Sept. 30, Global Enlightenment Radio Network host Darrell Neely was arrested on Monday, and court records show that three other people who worked with him at the radio station led the FBI to him. Those three witnesses each told authorities that they spoke to Neely on the day of the siege of the U.S. Capitol in video calls and a Facebook messenger chat."
