Georgia election official takes the fight to Trump

If Raffensperger isn’t Trump’s top GOP nemesis, he’s close to it. The Georgia secretary of state refused Trump’s requests to alter the state’s vote count and feuded with the former president over Trump’s baseless claims of widespread voter fraud. At one point, Raffensperger’s office secretly recorded Trump trying to persuade the secretary of state to “find” votes to make him the winner — a potential crime by Trump that local prosecutors are now investigating."

Mesa County clerk Tina Peters has a way of digging herself deeper holes.

She's been having problems ever since Trump convinced her the election was stolen from him.


Mesa County clerk's legal defense fund could violate Colorado ethics rules, experts say

"A legal defense fund established by a Colorado county clerk to fight possible criminal charges related to a series of election equipment data breaches could run afoul of the state constitutional gift ban, according to an expert on Colorado's ethics amendment.

Embattled Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters is at the center of a months-long controversy surrounding allegations she was involved in leaking sensitive voting equipment data, including system passwords and copies of software used to manage elections in 62 of Colorado's 64 counties. Federal, state and local authorities have launched criminal investigations into the activity.

Peters, a Republican serving her first term, claims the investigations are politically motivated attempts to prevent her from exposing election irregularities she contends are proof of an effort to take over one of the most conservative counties in Colorado."

 

No amount of proof will ever convince them that the election wasn't stolen. After all, if you can fake a moon landing you can certainly fake election results! I only hope their numbers don't grow!

 

The log files that Peters has claimed were discarded in violation of Colorado election rules were apparently log files of the old Dominion software that was updated, not log files of the 2020 election itself.

Peters was involved in letting a non-employee have access to the Dominion machines as the software was being updated. Security cameras were turned off. The code of the hard drives of the Dominion machines later surfaced on the web. The deputy of Peters has been arrested.

 

Mesa County's deputy clerk faces cybercrime, felony burglary charges

"Belinda Knisley, the Mesa County deputy clerk under investigation for election security breaches, was advised she faces felony burglary and misdemeanor cybercrime charges Wednesday in Grand Junction, according to court records.

The charges are separate from an ongoing probe by local prosecutors and the FBI into allegations that Knisley and her boss, Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters, were involved in election data leaks.

Knisley, 66, turned herself in to authorities and was ordered to stay away from the Mesa County Clerk and Recorder's office, according to The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel's Charles Ashby, who first reported the story.

According to an arrest affidavit, which was first obtained by the Daily Sentinel, Knisley was discovered trying to print a document at county offices using Peters' computer credentials, despite having earlier been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into allegations she had created a hostile work environment for office employees."

 

Trump fostered this type of behavior with his relentless stolen election narrative.


Mesa County's deputy clerk faces cybercrime, felony burglary charges

"Knisley and Peters were named in a lawsuit filed Monday by Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold seeking to replace Peters as the Western Slope county's designated election official ahead of the November vote. Griswold based the request on allegations the two helped make unauthorized copies of a voting system hard drive and allowed an unauthorized person access to a secure update of the system's software.

Peters has been under fire since early in August when a video displaying passwords to the county's Dominion Voting Systems election equipment appeared online at right-wing websites days before Peters showed up at a "cyber symposium" in South Dakota that aired debunked theories alleging the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump."

More unsavory characters like Knisley and Peters may infiltrate local and state election-related positions if Trump is able to drive out the law-abiding ones and install his loyalists.

Ohio was insane before the Tea Party, which pushed places like Colorado over the edge, into the Twilight Zone. When Fox News and the Tea Party were established, small towns everywhere elected the biggest asshole around sheriff, only to have their asses sued. After Obama took over the disaster Bush created, small towns in Colorado began cutting funding for all their services, including emergency services. These idiots are hellbent on shooting the country and themselves in the foot in every way imaginable, and it behooves us all to encourage them, because they are only getting more stupid by the moment.

Their entire religious and political traditions support insanity, because white people have been the overwhelming majority of the population for hundreds of years, and democracy is only meaningful to conservatives as something new to attack.

 

I spent last night in Grand Junction. it's a eff'd up town because it's so poorly laid out.

 

Trump asked for probe into claim Chinese thermostats changed votes, book claims

"Donald Trump asked intelligence officials to investigate a bizarre conspiracy theory that Chinese thermostats changed voices in the 2020 election, a new book claims.

The one-term president was said to be “intrigued” by the theory presented to him by Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark, according to the forthcoming book Betrayal, by Jonathan Karl of ABC News.

Mr Clark led the DOJ’s civil division and worked with Mr Trump to cast doubt on the result of the 2020 election, which he lost to Joe Biden.

“(Clark) believed that wireless thermostats made in China for Google by a company called Nest Labs might have been used to manipulate voting machines in Georgia,” Mr Karl wrote in the soon-to-be-released book.

“The idea was nuts, but it intrigued Trump, who asked Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe to look into it.”

Mr Trump and Mr Clark came up with a plan in January 2021 to replace Jeffrey Rosen as acting attorney general and replace him with Mr Clark, then attempt to use the department’s power to force state officials in Georgia to overturn its presidential election results.

Karl’s book states that senior DOJ officials, alongside White House counsel Pat Cipollone, told Mr Trump they would all resign if Mr Clark was made attorney general."

Conservatives declare war on each other and themselves all the time, and have the highest rates of suicide, abortion, divorce, child abuse, and alcoholism. You might as well tell half the damned country they're all pieces of shit, because they'll believe almost anything you repeat often enough, or whatever the hell sounds good to them at the time.

In case you haven't notice, they don't listen to a damned thing anyone says.

 

Trump used to praise Raffensperger.

After Trump lost the 2020 election, he called Raffensperger an enemy of the people.

Roughly a third of the damned country is still insisting Donald Duck should be above the law. Considering our constitution is shredded, our elections are rigged, and we've been voting for whoever advertises the most for over twenty years, I'd say someone calling people an "Enemy of the State" is as constructive as anything else. Donald Duck has not hypnotised a third of the population, who are all compulsive liars living their own fantasy-nightmare. Fox News, talk radio, and the internet have pushed the chickens over the edge, and even killing Donald Duck will not solve the problem.
