Trump calls for investigation of Pfizergate.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/11/11/trump-angry-about-pfizer-vaccine/

    excerpt:

"Trump’s anger at the FDA raises fresh questions about whether Hahn will hang on to his job until Jan. 20 — when Trump leaves office — in an administration intent on purging officials deemed insufficiently loyal. Trump called Hahn shortly before he tweeted Monday and was “screaming at him” about the Pfizer announcement, in the words of one senior administration official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive matters. The accusations against the FDA may further fuel baseless conspiracy theories that the election was stolen from Trump."

The Trump administration has made confusing statements about Pfizer's funding.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/11/11/trump-angry-about-pfizer-vaccine/

    excerpt:

"Given the timing of the Pfizer announcement, Trump and his allies are convinced he has been right all along about a “medical deep state,” a senior administration official said.

The president and his aides were annoyed when Pfizer’s Jansen, in responding to a question from the New York Times, distanced the company from Operation Warp Speed, according to a senior administration official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to reveal private discussions.

Pfizer did not take money from the government for research and development; instead, it spent $2 billion of its own money. It has a $1.95 billion contract with Operation Warp Speed for distribution of its vaccine assuming its candidate is successful. Pfizer spokeswoman Amy Rose said the company is working closely with Operation Warp Speed on distribution, but that Jansen was referring to Pfizer not receiving government funding for research and development."

Pfizer could have made that announcement two weeks from now and trump would have reacted the same way because it’s always about him.

The pharmaceutical giant waited until after the election to make the announcement in order to sabotage trump’s bid at re-election.......ha, ha, ha....

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/11/11/trump-angry-about-pfizer-vaccine/

    excerpt:

"Some Trump aides said it was probably better for vaccine confidence for the data to be released after the election.

“Honestly, from my perspective, it’s probably better that we announced anything about the vaccine after the election because it’s going to be more trusted by the American people,” said a senior White House official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he had not been authorized to discuss the matter. “I’m not sure Pfizer did the wrong thing.”"

Trump compromised himself by making remarks that he hoped that good vaccine news would be released before Nov. 3.

It made the public suspicious of vaccine news released just before the election which, if anything, made pharmaceutical companies hesitant about disclosing news just before the election out of fear of damaging public confidence in a new vaccine.

Trump should have kept his mouth closed, an act he has always had difficulty achieving.

I would have preferred Pfizer had waited another month to announce with more results.

Trump can send Giuliani on another wild goose chase of investigating Pfizer for supposedly stealing the election from him.

Trump has made other contentions that are just as wild, such as saying he would negotiate (with an unspecified entity) for a third term because he felt he was cheated out of his first term because of the Mueller investigation.

Pence made it sound like Trump was responsible for the development of the vaccine.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...-is-not-function-trumps-operation-warp-speed/

    excerpt:

"The issue is, instead, accuracy. While the administration’s response to the pandemic has been dubious in any number of ways, the prioritization of vaccine development has been important. In this case, though, it can’t claim credit for that work.

It could claim credit for the successful distribution of a Pfizer vaccine, of course, given the agreement between the company and the government. But whether that rollout is a success — or even happens — remains to be seen.

In September, the CEO of Pfizer, Albert Bourla, appeared on CBS News’s “Face the Nation,” where he was asked about not accepting government funding for development."

He has been legitimately too preoccupied to serve as president for four years...

Poll watchers for Trump are confused that many military people voted for Biden.

Polls have showed that Trump's support from members of the military had dropped during his term. Some Trump supporters thought that it wouldn't affect the way military members would vote.

Polls before the election showed that Trump's loss of support from military members translated into not voting for him again.

In spite of that, Trump poll watchers were still puzzled by military people not voting for Trump and thought it was election fraud.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...073d7a-2447-11eb-a688-5298ad5d580a_story.html

    excerpt:

"A third poll watcher noticed that when absentee ballots came in from military personnel, many showed votes for Democrats. He found that odd.

“I can estimate that at least 80% of military ballots I saw were straight ticket Democrat or simply had Joe Biden’s name filled in on them,” the man wrote. “I had always been told that military people tended to be conservative, so this stuck out to me.”"

Trump crippled himself with the military vote, including insulting McCain before and after his death, insulting relatives of U.S. troops killed in action, and not attending a military cemetery in France because it was raining.

Trump snubbed the military members overseas by effectively canceling Pelosi's planned visit to troops in Afghanistan by not allowing her and a bipartisan Congressional delegation to use a military aircraft to visit the troops.

Trump pulled that last-minute surprise stunt to retaliate for Pelosi saying that she thought it was inappropriate for him to do the State of the Union address during the government shutdown that he caused because he was agitated he didn't obtain U.S. taxpayer money for his wall that even the Republicans wouldn't give him.

All of Trump's self-centered, careless acts crippled him for the 2020 election, and now his supporters think his election loss is because of voter fraud.

Trump needed permission from Congress to do the State of the Union address. When he felt that he might not obtain it, he felt usurped and pulled the permission for Pelosi and a Congressional delegation to use a military aircraft to visit troops in Afghanistan. He did it while they were on their way to the airport to try to maximize the humiliation.

It's an example of how Trump lets his ego and authoritarian impulses dictate his behavior at the moment which cripples him later.

Trump's retaliation act also blew the cover on what had been a secret trip to Afghanistan due to security reasons. It spoiled any attempt to reschedule it in the near future.

Biden used the detached approach of letting Trump injure himself repeatedly during the 2020 campaign instead of trying to tangle with him and be drawn into the mud with him.

Why Trump is filing so many flimsy lawsuits in battleground states - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"President Donald Trump's campaign strategy increasingly appears to be to cast enough doubt over vote counts so it can find judges to block states from certifying the choice its voters made, according to elections experts, including longtime Republican lawyer-turned-CNN analyst Ben Ginsberg. The Electoral College doesn't formally select the president until December 14, with a key deadline December 8.

If that worked, in theory, it could then open the path for state legislatures -- especially the Republicans in power in Michigan and Pennsylvania -- to argue they should make their own choice for their Electoral College slate, handing Trump a victory that goes against Biden's win in more than one state. But it couldn't come close to giving Trump the electoral win without lots of help."
