'Unfair' Donald Trump has nothing to complain about in 2020 election

    excerpt:

"If Barack Obama — who the GOP accused of being too soft on Russia — had denied that President Vladimir Putin attacked U.S. elections in 2016 (and obsequiously sided with Putin on the issue during a side-by-side news conference in Helsinki). Or showered praise on Putin, congratulating him on winning a sham reelection. Or shared classified information with two Russian officials in the Oval Office. Or refused to call out Putin for allegedly placing bounties on the heads of U.S. troops. Or pursued a major real estate deal in Moscow while he was running for president. Republican leaders would have demanded Obama resign.

If any other president, Democrat or Republican, paid hush money to a porn star; or said he "fell in love" with North Korea's murderous dictator; or shook down a foreign leader to dig up dirt on a rival; or oversaw a policy of taking children from their parents to discourage border crossings; or used tear gas to clear peaceful demonstrators from a park in front of the White House for a photo-op; or characterized white supremacists as "very fine people.""

Poor little puppy. Have you said anything of substance on HF? Your "contributions" seem to be a lot of whining and assertions that you never back up.

Trump needs to take lessons from Fauci.

More Americans approve of Fauci's handling of coronavirus than Trump's, new poll finds

    excerpt:

"Nationwide, 72% of likely voters said they approve of the job Fauci is doing in handling the outbreak and only 28% disapprove, the poll found. At the same time, only 41% of respondents said they approve of how Trump is managing the virus, versus 59% who disapprove.

In six battleground states, 66% of voters answered that they approve of how Fauci is handling Covid-19, versus 34% who disapprove. For Trump, 46% of swing-state respondents said they approve of how he is managing the outbreak, while 54% said they disapprove."

Police in Oregon are investigating how severed deer heads ended up next to Biden-Harris and Black Lives Matter signs

Police in Oregon are investigating how severed deer heads ended up next to Biden-Harris and Black Lives Matter signs

    except:

"In the days leading to the election, there have been several reported attempts of voter intimidation by supporters of President Donald Trump. On October 24, a man at a rally in Beverly Hills, California, for Trump wielded a sword and threatened a woman passing by the crowd "to vote for Trump whether you like it or not."

The owner of a Colorado mobile home park sent letters to his tenants saying that he would double rent if Democrat Joe Biden won the presidential election, KUSA-TV reported. Some residents of the park told the outlet the letter threatening consequences for the election's outcome felt like blatant voter intimidation.

A convoy of trucks bearing Trump flags forced the Biden campaign to cancel events in Texas four days out from the election when the group of vehicles surrounded Biden campaign buses on the road. The FBI announced an investigation into the incident, prompting Trump to defend his supporters.

"In my opinion, these patriots did nothing wrong," Trump wrote on Twitter in response to the investigation."

An article about possible post-election Supreme Court actions.

Opinion | Hated the Bush v. Gore ruling? Trump v. Biden could be worse.

Opinion | Hated the Bush v. Gore ruling? Trump v. Biden could be worse.

    excerpt:

"If the four conservatives were to get their way as Kavanaugh and Alito described, they could, in the wake of the elections, simply throw out the extended deadlines and other rulings on which voters relied, which were set by state courts, governors, secretaries of state and election boards, and invalidate tens of thousands of ballots with no recourse for voters. Indeed, with Alito's approval, Pennsylvania already pre-emptively agreed to separate all mail-in ballots that arrive after Election Day but before the state deadline of Friday, so the state will know which ballots to throw out in case the Supreme Court orders it to do so. (If the state hadn't done so, it could have been forced by the courts to throw out even more ballots if all mail-in ballots had been mixed together regardless of when they had been received, making them impossible to differentiate.)"

While it look good for Biden, Trump isn’t going to go down without a fight. He may even declare victory before the numbers are even tallied.

What I I find most encouraging compared to 2016 are most polls find Biden likable, unlike Hillary Clinton who the Republicans managed to demonize.

In the midst of the autumn surge, Trump suggests that he will fire Fauci.

COVID in Ohio: State adds 2,909 cases of coronavirus

    excerpt:

"France and Germany have gone back into lockdown as COVID-19 spikes in Europe. Switzerland, Italy, Bulgaria and Greece are enforcing curfews and mandatory mask-wearing. Madrid and other parts of Spain have banned essential travel in and out of their regions.

On Wednesday, New York will start requiring travelers from non-neighboring states to get a coronavirus test before and after they visit or they must quarantine for 14 days.

President Donald Trump is suggesting he will fire Dr. Anthony Fauci after the election as the nation sees its most alarming coronavirus spike since the spring."

On the day before an election, trump threatens to fire Fauci. Now maybe it's me, but that doesn't seem like the correct way to win votes from intelligent people.

Trump has myopic tunnel vision and panders to the fantasies of his hardcore base.

It has worsened during his term. He's become fully entrenched in it and is making increasingly outlandish statements, such as hints about firing Fauci when 72% of likely voters approve of him.

Trump is like trash TV hosts who try to enlist increasingly bizarre guests to top previous episodes and who eventually run out of ammo.

Final Yahoo News/YouGov poll: Biden leads Trump by 10 as voters fear a chaotic Election Day

Final Yahoo News/YouGov poll: Biden leads Trump by 10 as voters fear a chaotic Election Day

    excerpt:

"Again, 1 in 10 isn’t nothing; the president could still get reelected. But the poll makes it clear that Trump is facing much longer odds than last time around. Broad majorities of likely voters, for instance, say Biden would do a better job than Trump at handling the coronavirus pandemic (53 percent to 37 percent), health care (52 percent to 38 percent), race relations (54 percent to 35 percent) and the environment (55 percent to 31 percent). Narrow pluralities also pick Biden on the economy (46 percent to 45 percent) and crime (45 percent to 43 percent) — issues once thought to be Trump’s strong suits."

Trump's plan to try to send $200 gift cards to 33 million seniors before the election hasn't materialized.

The letters informing seniors about the gift cards apparently were never sent either.

Donald Trump’s Scheme to Bribe Seniors With $200 Gift Cards Is Not Obviously Legal

Donald Trump’s Scheme to Bribe Seniors With $200 Gift Cards Is Not Obviously Legal

    excerpts:

"During a rally to unveil his new, predictably thin and gimmicky health care agenda on Thursday, Donald Trump made the surprise announcement that his administration would send $200 gift cards in “in coming weeks” to 33 million senior citizens that they could use to pay for prescription drugs. “Nobody has seen this before,” the president said, accurately. That Trump was publicly declaring his intent to bribe elderly voters just before an election using public money was lost on nobody. Less clear is how the president actually intends to execute this latest scheme, or if it’s even the tiniest bit legal."

“It’s not obviously legal,” Juliette Cubanski, the deputy director of the Kaiser Family Foundation Program on Medicare Policy, told me. “Because if you read the statute, it doesn’t automatically lend itself to where you send a $200 payment to Medicare beneficiaries. It’s intended to be used by the secretary of HHS for testing changes to provider payments. Not sending money to Medicare beneficiaries themselves.”

Republicans say that they don't see the tweets.

Republicans publicly silent, privately disgusted by Trump’s election threats

    excerpt:

"But most Republicans, from critics to allies of Trump, have remained publicly silent. It’s not new for Trump’s party brethren to duck and cover when he says something troubling. But after five years of perfecting the art of explaining how they “didn’t see the tweet” — the much parodied talking point to which Republicans on Capitol Hill often resort — it is shocking but not surprising that they aren’t speaking up now, even when the integrity of America’s electoral system is under attack by their party’s leader."

Sgt. Hamann postulates that wild animals may have found deer heads in the plastic bags and dragged them up to Biden and BLM signs.

Police in Oregon are investigating how severed deer heads ended up next to Biden-Harris and Black Lives Matter signs

    excerpt:

"Lake Oswego Police Sgt. Tom Hamann, though, said the department isn't comfortable classifying the events as "bias incidents" without more evidence.

"There are hunters in town and it is deer hunting season," he told Oregon Live. "They will often dispose of the deer heads after cleaning out the animals. Maybe someone disposed of it improperly and an animal got ahold of it.""

AP Explains: The election result may be delayed. That's OK.
    NICHOLAS RICCARDI
    Associated Press

AP Explains: The election result may be delayed. That's OK.

    excerpt:

"Election workers must remove the ballots from their envelopes, check for errors, sort them and flatten them — all before they can be run through scanners the moment polls close and be tabulated. In states with well-established vote-by-mail programs, this processing happens weeks before Election Day. The results are often released quickly.

But several states did not have this system in place before this year and laws on the books prohibited election officials from processing the ballots well in advance of Election Day. Without a head start, there's virtually no way to process and count all the mail votes on Election Day, while also counting all the in-person votes.

There are three important battlegrounds with restrictions on when the mail vote can be processed — Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

In those states, Republican-controlled legislatures have resisted pleas from election officials to update the laws to allow for a speedier count. (The Michigan legislature did allow processing to begin 24 hours before Election Day in cities, but election officials say that's not enough of a head start.) Instead, they will initially report in-person votes — expected to heavily favor Trump — and gradually update with the more Democratic-leaning mail ballots later."
