Trump administration preparing to send federal agents to Chicago - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"The Trump administration is preparing to send federal agents to Chicago this week, two law enforcement officials tell CNN, as President Donald Trump and top officials are promising to crack down on what they say are violence and the increase in crime in major cities.

One senior law enforcement official told CNN that there are plans to send federal agents to Chicago through the end of the summer. The agents will focus on illegal gun sales and gun violence and outstanding warrants, among other targets, according to one of the sources. Both sources said an announcement could be made in the coming days.

The effort appears to be separate from the federal presence in Portland, Oregon, which was part of the President's demand that federal buildings be protected from protesters.

Chicago's mayor warned Monday about such plans in the wake of criticisms of how federal agents are facing off with protesters in Portland."

Trump circumvents and damages the rule of law. At the same time, he sends murky federal agents to cities who essentially kidnap people into unmarked vehicles over issues of graffiti in the area of a courthouse.

The murky remarks Trump made during the Wallace interview on Fox about immigration and the Supreme Court's recent decision about DACA apparently stem from a memo written by John Yoo.

Trump is once again planning to circumvent Congress on immigration and apparently other issues such as healthcare.

The Trump administration has been consulting the former government lawyer who wrote the legal justification for waterboarding on how the president might try to rule by decree.

Trump consults Bush torture lawyer on how to skirt law and rule by decree

    excerpt:

"John Yoo told the Guardian he has been talking to White House officials about his view that a recent supreme court ruling on immigration would allow Trump to issue executive orders on whether to apply existing federal laws.

“If the court really believes what it just did, then it just handed President Trump a great deal of power, too,” Yoo, a professor at Berkeley Law, said.

“The supreme court has said President Obama could [choose not to] enforce immigration laws for about 2 million cases. And why can’t the Trump administration do something similar with immigration – create its own … program, but it could do it in areas beyond that, like healthcare, tax policy, criminal justice, inner city policy. I talked to them a fair amount about cities, because of the disorder.”

In a Fox News Sunday interview, Trump declared he would try to use that interpretation to try to force through decrees on healthcare, immigration and “various other plans” over the coming month. The White House consultations with Yoo were first reported by the Axios news website.""

I think it may not matter. I think this election is going to be about Covid and Trumps largely at it’s mercy. If a really good therapeutic comes out like maybe that inhaled Remdesivir to really reduce deaths, and Biden fucks up bad in the debates it could happen.

I wouldn’t bet Orange right now.

Trump is considering a loophole, which he found in a conservative magazine article, to bypass Congress to impose new immigration policies

    excerpt:

"Yoo said those policies could remain beyond the end of Trump's first term and take several years to overturn.

In a July 10 interview with Telemundo, Trump said he would soon sign a "big immigration bill," which he also called a "big executive order," citing the recent Supreme Court decision.

"We're working out the legal complexities right now, but I'm going to be signing a very major immigration bill as an executive order, which Supreme Court now, because of the DACA decision, has given me the power to do that," Trump said."

Trump has been involved with Telemundo lately to try to garner the Hispanic vote which polls show he is losing badly. His support for the CEO of Goya Foods and the Hispanic Prosperity Initiative is an example.

His next ploy likely will be an executive order regarding immigration made to appeal to Hispanics.

Trump has apparently plans to pursue an approach that he thinks Obama was wrong for using to initiate DACA. But Trump is going to try to do it on a grand scale using broad executive orders to try to implement comprehensive changes to national policies such as immigration, healthcare, infrastructure, inner city relations, taxes, crime, and education without the involvement of Congress.

Trump's hope is that reversing the effects of his planned executive orders will be as difficult as reversing DACA in light of the recent decision by the Supreme Court that said a capricious end to DACA isn't a reasonable remedy. Trump thinks that the decision broadens his authority and gives him an opportunity to effectively enact quasi-legislation that will endure beyond January 2021 if he isn't reelected.

Stressful issue like the end of $600 benefits will accumulate as the virus rages on, unless Congress renews such benefits.

The End Of $600 Unemployment Benefits Will Hit Millions Of Households And The Economy

    excerpt:

"Tens of millions of Americans who lost their jobs because of the pandemic are now in danger of having their incomes slashed for a second time. The supplemental unemployment benefits of $600 per week that Congress approved four months ago are set to expire at the end of this week in most states — threatening to hurt strapped households and the U.S. economy, as billions of dollars' worth in spending suddenly comes to a halt.

As Congress comes back into session this week, lawmakers will debate whether to extend the supplemental benefits, which have been a lifeline for more than 30 million people across the United States.

"The extra $600 from the government has obviously helped me tremendously," said bartender Courtney Woodruff, who lost her job at a Denver brewpub. "I don't really spend a lot. My money is going towards rent and food right now.""

Why would he do this? I think he realizes he is going to lose the election, so he wants to inflict as much damage as he can before he leaves. Watch for him to double down between November, and January.
