Trump keeps claiming success on the ever increasing U.S. coronavirus death toll which has surpassed 100,000.

Trump, downplaying deaths, once claimed US would never see 100,000 milestone
Trump suggested throughout April the country wouldn't reach 100,000 deaths.

Trump, downplaying deaths, once claimed US would never see 100,000 milestone

    excerpt:

"In just under four months, more than 100,000 Americans are now reported to have died from the novel coronavirus, a grim milestone President Donald Trump once suggested the country would never see.

Roughly a month ago, Trump, at a White House task force briefing, said, "It looks like we'll be at about a 60,000 mark, which is 40,000 less than the lowest number thought of."

A few days later, on April 24, he again sought to highlight a lesser number: "Minimal numbers were going to be 100,000 people. And we're going to be, hopefully, far below that."

Trump's combativeness and name-calling were once perceived as virtues by his following when the good economy he had inherited from Obama hadn't yet faltered and when he wasn't faced with a real crisis.

Trump Shows Signs of Panic as Coronavirus, Campaign Wear On
Donald Trump’s combativeness reached new levels this week, with escalated attacks that left his enemies – and his allies – scratching their heads.

    excerpt:

"Even by modern political discourse standards, President Donald Trump reached a new level of frenzy and attack this week: He suggested a cable news host committed murder. He threatened to pull the Republican National Convention out of the state that has spent nearly two years planning for the event. He tweeted gleefully about media layoffs, ridiculed his likely Democratic election foe for wearing a protective mask and claimed that if more people vote by mail – as he does – the election will be a fraud.

Trump's signature combativeness has long been an inspiration for his most devout followers and a source of outrage among his detractors. But this week, the president appears to have crossed a line – moving his favorite social media forum, Twitter, to append a fact-check suggestion to the president's often factually challenged tweets. That led the president Wednesday to threaten, on that very forum, to shut down the site – though it's not clear why he believes he has the power to do so."

    excerpt:

""I think he's taken his attacks, his name-calling, his bullying efforts to a whole new level. I didn't think it was possible. I didn't think there was another level," Rothenberg adds. "You'd think there was a logic to it, but I don't see any political rationale for what he's doing."

As the coronavirus crisis melds with the presidential campaign, Trump has flailed around as he collects targets to shoot at and makes blatantly false claims. The president has long reveled in pushing people's buttons, but as his reelection prospects look increasingly daunting, it is the panic button on the other end of his finger, his critics and independent observers say."

So why is it so bad if he is flagged as fake? I thought the entire media lied. So being "fake" to them should confirm his realness. Such a fragile snowflake ego.

I'm sure a member of cult 45 can explain to me why a private company does not get to set the rules and how Trump is the victim. You can either do that or come to the side of reason.

Trump is falsely claiming that he acted quickly when he squandered two months of precious time belittling the coronavirus.

He later blamed Obama for supposedly leaving him an empty cupboard.

Trump had two months to prepare for the coronavirus after it was clear that it would be a threat to the U.S. He had three years to restock any alleged empty cupboard.

After all of those blunders, Trump claims personal victory as the U.S. coronavirus deaths surpass 100,000, a number he said wouldn't happen.

    Double think

It's such a trivial thing any restrictions are bad but also so bad that without him more would die.
I would love to be wrong but by Christmas there will be 1 million dead Americans with large spikes in Republican voting areas that did not distance. With summer actives and of course the religion of college football these people are going to screw themselves. Stories I am hearing from SEC land are that people are making a point to cough and touch. You know to show what strong Americans they are.

Trump to sign executive order on social media amid Twitter furor
"Big Tech is doing everything in their very considerable power to CENSOR in advance of the 2020 Election," Trump tweeted late Wednesday night.

Trump to sign executive order on social media amid Twitter furor

    excerpt:

"President Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order aimed at social media companies on Thursday, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany told reporters Wednesday evening, a move that comes as the president and his allies have escalated their allegations that companies like Twitter and Facebook stifle GOP voices.

McEnany told reporters aboard Air Force One that the order is “pertaining to social media” but shared no additional details on what it will do. But the announcement revived fears within the online industry that the Trump administration will target a 24-year-old statute that protects the companies from lawsuits — an avenue that a growing number of Republican lawmakers have advocated in their bias allegations about Silicon Valley.

A senior administration official familiar with the issue said the order, which will be broad and high level, would address complaints that the online platforms are deceiving people by acting like content moderators — picking and choosing what content to allow or block — instead of politically neutral platforms. But the person said the order's language was likely to change by Thursday.

Any attempt to go after the tech companies through regulations could face serious obstacles, however. The president's own regulators have shown little appetite in the past for taking on scrutiny of tweets and Facebook posts, and federal courts have ruled as recently as Wednesday morning that social media companies are private entities with the legal right to police content on their sites."

Trump to sign executive order on social media amid Twitter furor

    excerpt:

"That proposal targeted the online industry's prized liability shield over user-generated content, Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. The 1996 law broadly protects websites from lawsuits over what their users post, and for taking good-faith efforts to curb illicit material.

But those protections, which have been fiercely defended by the tech industry, have come under scrutiny from officials on both sides of the political spectrum. Republicans have charged that the shield has enabled social media platforms to crack down on their viewpoints with impunity. There's no conclusive evidence of an anti-conservative bias on social media, and the companies have consistently denied the charges."

The Trump camp is proffering very warped wannabe alpha-male rhetoric.

One of the Trump-supporting protesters without a face mask at a state house said he was protected because he was taking hydroxychloroquine. He likely wasn't because a prescription is needed for it. Even if he was, evidence is lacking that it can ward off the coronavirus.

Trump made the same claim that he was taking hydroxychloroquine because he said he heard so many good comments about it by unspecified people.

Trump has given no evidence that he is taking hydroxychloroquine. It appears to be a stunt to try to cover up a mistake he made claiming that it would help coronavirus victims when in fact some studies have shown it to be detrimental.

Trump did a similar stunt when he doctored a NOAA weather chart to try to undo his mistake by saying Alabama would be hit by a hurricane.

Considering a president who makes such remarks, the single mom who said she was about to be evicted, who had called Trump during his town hall meeting for help, will need to place a great amount of faith in Trump who said that he has a feeling she will have a better job after he is reelected.

I really fear for the future of the U.S. - if in fact we even have one. For decades, U.S. news sources have fact-checked stories, and re-fact-checked in order to get THE TRUTH out to the American public. Which right is - by the way - guaranteed by the Constitution.

Now ………….. Rump doesn't like the fact that he's been caught in YET ANOTHER LIE about mail-in ballots. So he's attempting to do just what Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, ( and ALL COMMUNIST Soviet leaders did) Mao, Putin, Xi, and Kim Jung Un have done and are doing - limiting the people's right to know the truth. Rump wants to be the one deciding & controlling that his lies and propaganda should be spread all over the country.

Zuckerberg is a gutless, snot-nosed kid who only cares about his own wealth - so he also attacked Twitter for fact-checking Rump. TRUTH is what's needed at ALL TIMES, and if bullshit, lie-strewn propaganda is allowed to be spread with no factual back-up - what do we have??? Everything becomes a question mark - nothing is real anymore. THERE IS NO CERTAINTY ANYMORE!!!!

Rump's baseless, fact-less, LIE charging that the Governor of California is sending mail-in ballots to everyone, regardless of who they are, if they're registered voters or not, if they're citizens or not, or where they came from is 100% FALSE !!! It's just another of Rump's typical outbursts that try to stir up and convince his base that he's the only one correct. He's like the person who yells "FIRE" in a crowded movie theater. He gets lots of quick reaction - but there's no basis in fact. For those who know U.S. history - when Orson Welles broadcast "The War of The Worlds" on radio years ago here in the U.S., many Americans heard it and panicked. They committed suicide by jumping out of buildings & shooting themselves over a BROADCAST STORY that the earth was being invaded by Martians. That catastrophe is the reason for the decades-long "station identification" that all networks must announce so NON-FACTUAL info isn't spread on the airwaves again. So why is fact-checking for THE TRUTH a bad thing - especially when it comes to free & fair elections???

Rump is a CHAMPION LIAR - and it's all for his political gain - NOT the GOOD OF THE COUNTRY. Rump has been caught in so many lies since he's been in office, it's a task just trying to catalog them all.

This is now the duty of the news media to call a lie a LIE. LIARS NEED TO BE EXPOSED.

The FAKE NEWS ………………….. is RUMP himself!!!!

From what I read, this eo was not vetted by the FCC. It probably would not withstand a legal challenge.

What a peaceful leader that respects both sides. Of course it's the democrats who are violent right? Please find any evidemce of a Democratic president saying anything close to this. You can't because for the most part the fantasy of killing a political rival is a Republican one.

Trump Tweets Video Declaring That 'The Only Good Democrat Is A Dead Democrat'

President Donald Trump early Thursday morning retweeted a video of one of his supporters declaring that Trump’s political opponents ought to be dead.

“Thank you Cowboys,” Trump tweeted with the video posted by Cowboys for Trump, which shows Couy Griffin, the group’s leader, ranting about Democrats in violent terms during a gathering at a New Mexico church on May 17.

“I’ve come to a place where I’ve come to a conclusion where the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat,” Griffin said as the crowd cheered.

The Trump supporter insisted he wasn’t talking “in a physical sense.”

“And I can already see the videos getting edited where says I want to go murder Democrats,” he said. “I say that in the political sense because the Democrat policy and agenda is anti-American right now.”

Griffin repeated again that “politically speaking,” the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat because “we need to have the majorities in the House and the Senate.”

^^^^^ They had the majorities and LOST them due to constant F-ups, rolling back & eliminating health-care provisions in the Affordable Care Act that gained health-care for more than 20 million Americans, & protected citizens from insurance companies rejecting claims due to "pre-existing conditions", lies, hypocrisy, constantly trying to eliminate Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid, rolling back environmental protection laws that harm our air, water and climate, rigging Congressional districts by gerrymandering them so only Repubs can win those districts, purging voter rolls to eliminate "certain" U.S. citizens from voting, and many other corrupt activities.

Just look at how NONE of them - except Mitt Romney - have the balls to stand up to Rump and his lies. If a Democrat President said and did the very same things Rump has been doing, those same spineless, gutless Repubs would be screaming "Tyrant!!!" - "Dictator!!!" - "He's trampling on the Constitution!!!" - "We need to reign him in!!!" ……………. 1st class HYPOCRITES.

They are nothing more than LIARS, CHEATS, SCOUNDRELS, CROOKS, HYPOCRITES, and CORRUPT SLIME.

VOTE THEM OUT !!! Protect our 3-branch government that the founding Fathers set up - and not an executive branch that has become an autocracy / monarchy under Rump and these spineless, gutless, hypocrite Repubs.

Hell - even a number of prominent former Republicans quit the Republican party because they said they don't even stand for what the party had always stood for. They don't like the violent, divisive talk, and the outright lies coming from the Republican party these days. They don't like the power-grab of the executive branch. Some former Republican Congressmen and even party leaders & chairmen have turned Democrat. One man - whose name escapes me - said the ONLY party that stands for what he believes America should be is the Democratic Party.

The Democratic Party - though certainly not perfect - sure as hell stands behind and FOR vastly more Americans and their interests than the Republican party has - or ever will.
