Fauci, 2 other members of task force in quarantine Kevin Freking Associated Press May 9, 2020 Fauci, 2 other members of coronavirus task force in quarantine excerpt: "WASHINGTON — Three members of the White House coronavirus task force, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, placed themselves in quarantine after contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, another stark reminder that not even one of the nation’s most secure buildings is immune from the virus. Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will be “teleworking for the next two weeks” after it was determined he had a “low-risk exposure” to a person at the White House, the CDC said in a statement Saturday evening. The statement said he felt fine and has no symptoms. Just a few hours earlier, the Food and Drug Administration confirmed that FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn had come in contact with someone who tested positive and was in self-quarantine for the next two weeks. He tested negative for the virus."
Republicans grow nervous about losing the Senate amid worries over Trump’s ... habdling of the pandemic By Seung Min Kim and Mike DeBonis May 10, 2020 at 6:00 a.m. EDT https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...691184-915f-11ea-a9c0-73b93422d691_story.html excerpts: "The emerging consensus of several Republican strategists is that GOP incumbents should be able to hang on in states Trump won in 2016 if the president can hang on to those states himself. That list includes North Carolina, Arizona and Iowa, which Democrats are heavily targeting this cycle. The flip side for Republicans is that states Trump lost in 2016 — such as Colorado and Maine — could be out of reach. Many GOP strategists have already written off Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) barring a major shift and some have doubts that Collins will be able to continue her trend of faring far better in elections than Republican presidential candidates she has shared the ballot with." "Both Senate seats are on the ballot in Georgia, a state whose changing demographics is trending in favor of Democrats. In Kansas, Republicans fear that flawed GOP candidate Kris Kobach could again emerge victorious from a primary but lose a statewide race, as he did in the 2018 race for governor. And Senate Democrats ability to get popular Montana Gov. Steve Bullock to run against Republican Sen. Steve Daines revived a once-dead race into a closely-watched contest, particularly as Bullock benefits from the wave of political goodwill that voters have afforded to state executives during the pandemic."
Senator Susan Collins of Maine compromised herself when she sold out to Trump on the corporate tax cut and foolishly took a promise from senate leaders that her concerns about Trump crippling the Affordable Care Act (ACA) by making the personal mandate zero (which was part of the tax cut bill) would be addressed later the next year on the Senate floor. They weren't. Collins' situation is worse now because the healthcare system that Trump damaged to spite Obama via (among other tactics) reducing the personal mandate to zero is needed now more than ever during the virus pandemic, particularly for the lower income people in rural areas who have been supportive of Trump. Trump and the Republicans haven't offered any meaningful overhaul plans for the healthcare system. To date, it's been a sabotage effort of Trump to avenge Obama, including attempts to repeal the ACA altogether which haven't happened, not even the skinny repeal (courtesy a down vote by McCain). The self-proclaimed 'I alone can fix it' Trump has used extortion tactics to try to cripple the system enough to coerce politicians to do whatever he wants to revamp healthcare. He has yet to specify and implement what he wants after promising big, beautiful, inexpensive healthcare for all and has instead relegated the problem to Congress to fix. After being elected, the self-proclaimed genius Trump said that he was amazed that the healthcare system could be so complicated, similar to how he was stupefied that a contagion could be so contagious. Next, Trump will claim during a lethal pandemic that he is stupefied at how dependent people are on the healthcare system that he crippled.
Germaphobe Trump's fear of the virus that he has finally accepted as real is reminiscent of the line in the notable cemetery scene in the film NIght Of The Living Dead: "They're coming to get you, Barbara!" Barbara and her brother Johnny mistakenly dismissed the (unbeknownst to them) resurrected dead bodies as harmless. Both lost their lives to them. Youtube video:
The situation couldn't be too much worse for Trump right now. All Trump needs now is a new strain of the coronavirus where the dead bodies resurrect and maraud the countryside.
In a tweet on Sunday ranting against the media, the self-proclaimed genius Trump finally used the correct term 'Pulitzer Prize' instead of 'Nobel Prize' which he had erroneously used and also misspelled as 'Noble'. Trump is still rantng about the Russia investigation even after Barr completely dismissed the case against Flynn this week. Bloggers refer to Trump as a 'sore winner'. . Trump charges Obama with 'biggest political crime in American history' Martin Pengelly Published on Sun 10 May 2020 13.07 EDT Trump charges Obama with 'biggest political crime in American history' excerpt: "Trump has further reason to resent the Pulitzer committee and question its choices. In 2019, for example, a New York Times team won a Pulitzer for an “exhaustive 18-month investigation of President Donald Trump’s finances that debunked his claims of self-made wealth and revealed a business empire riddled with tax dodges”. The Wall Street Journal, meanwhile, was rewarded for “uncovering President Trump’s secret payoffs to two women during his campaign who claimed to have had affairs with him, and the web of supporters who facilitated the transactions, triggering criminal inquiries and calls for impeachment”. Trump’s actual impeachment, which he survived at trial in the Senate in February, concerned his attempts to have Ukraine investigate his political rivals. No reporter or news outlet won a 2020 Pulitzer, announced this week, for its coverage of that affair. Trump’s focus on Sunday remained largely on the Russia investigation despite continuing developments in the coronavirus outbreak, which has infected more than 1.3m Americans and killed nearly 80,000."

Pence On Michael Flynn’s Possible Return To Admin: ‘I’d Be Happy’ To See Him Again The Justice Department dropped charges against Flynn this week after he previously pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI. By Hayley Miller 05/10/2020 05:17 pm ET Pence On Michael Flynn's Possible Return To Admin: 'I'd Be Happy’ To See Him Again | HuffPost excerpt: "To the shock of legal experts nationwide, the Justice Department on Thursday dropped charges against Flynn, a former White House national security adviser who previously pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia. Prior to the Justice Department dropping the charges, President Donald Trump had hinted at potentially pardoning Flynn. The president said late last month that he would “certainly consider” bringing Flynn back into his administration. Asked Friday if he would be okay with such a move, Pence appeared to say yes. “I think Gen. Michael Flynn is an American patriot,” the vice president said. “He served this country with great distinction in uniform. And now I believe a decision by the Justice Department lays bare what was clearly prosecutorial abuse. And for my part, I’d be happy to see Michael Flynn again.”"

White House Covid cases contradict Trump's message on opening Analysis by Stephen Collinson, CNN Updated 9:36 AM ET, Mon May 11, 2020 Trump's message on opening contradicted by White House Covid cases - CNNPolitics excerpt: "The White House Covid-19 outbreak is undermining President Donald Trump's narrative that it's safe to open up the country and that diagnostic testing is of limited importance. The news of three top health officials, all members of the administration's coronavirus task force, self-quarantining in some form after one of Trump's valets and another West Wing aide tested positive is jarring alongside Trump's desire to move on from the pandemic and to concentrate on the staggering economic dimension of the crisis. The latest developments pose an essential question: If people around Trump are not protected from the virus in the most highly secured workplace in the country, how can it be safe for anyone else to go back to work?"
He's trying to undo something which cannot be undone. He keeps dwelling on this. Something that's not good for one's mental health.
I agree, but trump will always be linked to being impeached, and presiding over the second worst economy in the history of the country. The trump name will live in infamy.
Midwesterners were already doubting Trump. Covid could seal his political fate Art Cullen The genius may think we are suckers, but in Iowa we don’t ruin good corn liquor with Clorox Mon 11 May 2020 09.01 EDT Last modified on Mon 11 May 2020 09.25 EDT Midwesterners were already doubting Trump. Covid could seal his political fate excerpts: "“A lot of voters wanted to believe Trump – that out there in Washington it’s all BS, and that a savvy businessman could straighten it out,” Custer said. It’s hard for many to admit that it didn’t work out. A tragic comedy of lawlessness mixed with buffoonery nears its epilogue." "The Michigan governor, Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat on Biden’s VP shortlist, held forth ably against armed men in the capital lobby and remains far more popular than Trump. In Wisconsin, Democrats were outraged when Republicans forced a primary election involving a key state supreme court race. Voters stood up for democracy, in line for hours braving Covid-19 infection to cast their vote. The Democratic-backed court candidate won. Wisconsin unseated the Republican governor, Scott Walker, in 2018 and elected a gay woman to the US Senate, Democrat Tammy Baldwin, before that. It is the land of La Follette, after all."
I held out hope that Collins would be a voice of reason in the Repub party - but she let me and a great number of other people down. No spine, no guts and no ethics.
