Ratcliffe is back again. Trump nominated him again in February 2020 to head the DNI. He is known for being a Trump loyalist Trump nominated Ratcliffe in July 2020 but he withdrew after embellishments on his resume were noticed. Ratcliffe is facing Senate confirmation hearings this week. Trump to nominate Rep. John Ratcliffe again as intel chief The Texas Republican was previously announced in July as Trump's next intel chief, only to be withdrawn later amid concerns over alleged embellishments on his resume. By CORY BENNETT and CAITLIN OPRYSKO 02/28/2020 05:32 PM EST Updated: 02/28/2020 07:18 PM EST Trump to nominate Rep. John Ratcliffe again as intel chief excerpt: "President Donald Trump on Friday said he would nominate Rep. John Ratcliffe as the next director of national intelligence — the second time he has put forward his fierce congressional ally for the job. The Texas Republican was previously announced in July as Trump's next intel chief, only to be withdrawn five days later amid muted support from GOP senators and questions about whether he had overstated his qualifications. Trump's decision to nominate the congressman a second time will revive what is expected to be a testy confirmation battle to install a close political ally at the top of an intelligence apparatus Trump has frequently derided. “John is an outstanding man of great talent!” Trump said on Twitter when he made the announcement."
Trump disposed of DNI chief Maguire after he found out that he had authorized congressional briefings on Russia’s activities to interfere in the 2020 campaign.
Well said. He does this as much as any of the hardcore Trumpsters, but oddly tries to wear a mantle of neutrality.
Trump has had three acting DNI's: Mike Dempsey, Joseph Maguire, and Richard Grenell. Former U.S. senator Dan Coats has been the only confimed DNI during the Trump administration.. Trump's intelligence community is known for being in a leadership disarray throughout his term.
I don't defend him at all. I just counter bullshit when I see it. And most of the bullshit these days is coming from the left at an embarrassing pace. What's funny about being in the center is being called a "racist" and other such dog whistles by hard line leftists, and then enduring the "you want to take away my guns" bullshit from hard line rightists. When you slam hard to one side or the other, I can only chuckle for you. A life of conformity awaits you.
Trump a while back issued an unnecessary pardon to that Bundy fellow who had been arrested and found not guilty by a jury after he had led an armed group in a takeover of a federal facility. Trump's pardon was unnecessary because Bundy had in fact been found innocent by a jury. So, a question needs to be presented: Why did Trump do that? I am thinking it was his way of telling all the gunslingers and right wing extremists know that he supported them. Now that Bundy has just given a speech in Idaho to push the white supremacist ideology. During that speech he said that the Holocaust was carried out by the Jews themselves, and that the Jews control America. Well, Trump now has to balance this act out. His daughter is married to a devout Jewish man, his Treasury Secretary is Jewish too. And there is that mixed up guy named Miller who is Jewish but hates immigrants. How is all that going to reconciled for the voters before September when early voting beings?
Yeah, I read that article. You bring up an interesting conundrum for trump about being pro Israel, but at the same time, having to acquiesce to his anti Jew supporters. I think the older trump supporters support the Jews, but the younger ones don't. In regards to Steven Miller, I read that his uncle doesn't understand his thinking.
The President Is Unraveling The country is witnessing the steady, uninterrupted intellectual and psychological decomposition of Donald Trump. Peter Wehner Contributing writer at The Atlantic and senior fellow at EPPC May 5, 2020 6:00 AM ET The President Is Unraveling excerpt: "In case there was any doubt, the past dozen days have proved we’re at the point in his presidency where Donald Trump has become his own caricature, a figure impossible to parody, a man whose words and actions are indistinguishable from an Alec Baldwin skit on Saturday Night Live. President Trump’s pièce de résistance came during a late April coronavirus task-force briefing, when he floated using “just very powerful light” inside the body as a potential treatment for COVID-19 and then, for good measure, contemplated injecting disinfectant as a way to combat the effects of the virus “because you see it gets in the lungs and does a tremendous number on them, so it’d be interesting to check that.” But the burlesque show just keeps rolling on."
The President Is Unraveling excerpt: "“In the final analysis,” he said, “we are not partisan combatants; we are human beings, equally vulnerable and equally wonderful in the sight of God.” Bush concluded, “We rise or fall together, and we are determined to rise.” That was too much for Trump, who attacked his Republican predecessor on (where else?) Twitter: “[Bush] was nowhere to be found in speaking up against the greatest Hoax in American history!” So think about that for a minute. George W. Bush made a moving, eloquent plea for empathy and national unity, which enraged Donald Trump enough that he felt the need to go on the attack. But there’s more. On the same weekend that he attacked Bush for making an appeal to national unity, Trump said this about Kim Jong Un, one of the most brutal leaders in the world: “I, for one, am glad to see he is back, and well!”"
