grr... now im in a bad mood because of all that shit about the KU professor. it sure does suck being one of only a handful of kansas kids here at my school!

 

My thoughts are with you, diamonds. I just really wish all the discrimination and categorizing will stop ASAP... But some people just don't seem to care. It's OK, though. What matters is that WE maintain our positive outlook on life. We shouldn't let ignorant people make us miserable. Easier said than done, yes... But we must remain positive and hopeful, and good things will happen.

yeah and never mention that you are from kansas, because you will get some kind of reference to wizard of oz...... I always get reminded of that when I go on vacation, because everywhere you go and they ask where you are from, thats what I hear......

yeah... one time when i was a lot younger, my family was on a trip at my grandparents time share in like... idaho or some place. i was playing in this play area with a few older girls and when they asked me where i was from and i said, "topeka, kansas" one of them gave me a funny look and said, "thats where that nut fred phelps is from, isn't it?" i couldn't belive it. the rest of the week everyone in the play area thought i was some kind of hateful nazi or something. bastard. when i was in high school my friends and i picketed across from him a few times. it was kinda fun. the thing that he does that pisses me off the most, though, is stand outside the churches on christmas eve and christmas day and sing off-color versions of all the christmas songs. i just dont think thats necesarry, ya know? and the man just recently picketed a funeral. a FUNERAL for gods sake!

 

Phelps is just a tad "off"... Karma will take care of him. I've driven by some of his 'demonstrations" before... I actually thought the "Fag Rat" sign was a wonderful catch phrase for the kids in the area to pick up. Laughable.

 

my all time favorite fred moment? watching my grandpa who is from western kansas go crazy on his ass. papa hadn't been around fred much and he sure did let him have it. haha it was priceless... to see a shrivled up german catholic old man get right in his face and tell him he's a piece of shit. priceless!

 

phelps has not just recently picketted funerals....... he has done this for quite some time... the thing is, his family is full of lawyers and he has the first amendment backing him....... he and his cohorts are tasteless though..... they did go up to wyoming when that shephard kid was killed for being gay...... and of course they said he deserved to die..... when I first saw them, I was going to a show at TPAC, and some of them were there, holding signs that read "god hates fags" and "america is going to hell".......... I was going to open my mouth and tell them that they are in america too, so I guess they are going along with us......... but I decided it wasnt worth my time, and I wanted to see the show....

and I know too many german catholics..... I grew up in a very dominant german catholic community. and I am one myself.

Hmmm....Fred Phelps? I know the name, I do not know of his exploits. From the previous few posts, he sounds like a real charming bastard.

Here in my corner of the world, (Cincinnati area) we have Citizens for Community Values. They're a bunch of real assholes, and the Head Sphincter is a wart named Phil Buress. He's on a one man crusade to rid the world of porn...and anything else he doesn't like.

Oh, yeah...my Congresswoman is none other than Jean "Leatherface" Schmidt.

If I ever visit Kansas there are two things I simply MUST do.
