This is what I have suggested to Dejavu. If everything must be physical in form there is no reason that everything must have specific form. Silicon is a less reactive chemical analogue of carbon. It is more set in it's presentation and therefor will not survive catastrophic interruption in the way a body of carbon can. All the same consciousness is the communication between magnanimous intent and the body. Any body will do for the occasion. Your consciousness is imbued upon this silicon body and being silicon it is organized in a different fashion than our carbon body but it is no less a platform for consciousness.

That's okay, you are the scientist as well. Lean to good nutrition in the care and feeding of your little oinker.

You caught that silicon is less reactive/adaptive than carbon right AceK?

in organic chemistry and biology, this is true. I never suggested we replace one type of biology with another, rather than move beyond the inherent limitations of biology and merge our consciousness with machines.

Yes I understand but where is the redundancy to come from? The reason it is possible to do this is because the biological body is itself a machine which is a tool containing one or more parts that uses energy to perform an intended action.

it has nothing to do with silicon, carbon or what have you specifically. it could be some currently unknown compound or element, this is beside the point. I am simply trying to convey the idea of the human species reaching a level of intelligence and understanding to be capable of creating something superior to ourselves in the current state, and becoming one with that which we create.

More like transfer of title. It's all about level of identification. How does your forest self feel?

depends on what you mean exactly, I guess.....My forest self is fine...pretty in tune with nature...I am not going to make chicken salad out of any chickens I raise.....lol

That is not only a human attribute it is an endemic of creation itself to extend. I think we are expression of magnanimous intent. If our form of life can't find a way another will. In that sense we represent probability or opportunity.
And you are right it does not come down to specific compound or element as I have said any body will do. Some bodies are more adept in certain conditions than others however.

but that sounds almost like trying to play god and determining best bodies for this or for that.....

No. Had I the body of a jellyfish it would be hard for me to type is the point. Why are we carbon instead of silicon in a system containing both? Because of on the one hand specialization grabs a thing and runs with it and on the other carbon is very reactive and thus adaptive to conditions. We used to think that all life on our planet was photosynthetically based and recently we find chemosynthetic life in deep sea volcanic vents.

One potential outcome of AceK's cyborg is that two competing forms will eventually confront each other and so the classic science fiction match up of man vs. intelligent machine.

I do understand the merging of the best of both worlds and having superior beings...and that, I do believe is where evolution is taking man anyway.....and an evolution speeded up by man himself.

I would like to think that by the time we reach that level of intelligence that our species would have evolved enough to focus our efforts on advancing the species as a whole instead of the current situation with much resources being spent on war, and other acts of violence.

Even the early internet, before it was called the internet was a military project.

You guess? lol My point is that no-one dies to be born.

    thedope:
You said we're dying to be born when we only strive to be. It is not necessary to die in order to be born and you know it.

    Ace:
Not to the body? The self refers to the whole that it is.

Sure, but it is the only part of death we experience, that was my point. A life experience however one views it. Death as a part of life does not make sense. We only know it apart of life, by the dead bodies of others for instance. A story takes a teller, who if not around for the ending leaves it unfinished.

    Moonglow:
Me too, and not even 'until proven otherwise' in my case! ;-D

I tend to know things on my own. Not that others don't contribute to my knowledge! lol

The 'trick' here Ace, is that these things you rule out, they're not just anything, are they? ;-D

    thedope:
Suggested, but leaving no impression. That everything is physical in form means it takes on specifics. You say any body will do, then say "Some bodies are more adept in certain conditions than others however." So not any body at all, but specifically, the body that does. The hydrogen atom over there may be magnanimous in your mind, it won't know it.

Moonglow, quick, get behind me! I'm going to fight the attempt to 'rise' the machines! robodope's the first to go! lol

Is it an act of violence for one species to out compete another? I think it is an outgrowth of fecundity and opportune environment. The environment itself is transient. It seems reasonable to hope for what is best but do we know what that is?

    Dejavu:

The sense of self, the ego, is an element of the mind, not the body.
If you could remove your mind from your body and place it in another, would you not still be yourself? Would you not still have the same personality and memories? Would you not still be you with a new body?

    thedope:
It would not necessarily be unreasonable if necessary for survival. It is unreasonable and unnecessary if the species' in question are intelligent enough to be able to coexist when other reasonable alternatives exist. Especially against people of their own species.

I temporarily know more than you and you don't know that.
    Dying:
    informal
used to emphasize that one wants to do or have something very much.
"they must be dying for a drink"
synonyms: long, yearn, burn, ache; More
    3.
    informal
used to emphasize feelings of shock, embarrassment, amusement, or misery.
"I nearly died when I saw them"
    4.My favorite,
    archaic
    have an orgasm.

    From old norse, Deyja.

    Varying proportions.
Obviously that is any body. You are the energy of creation your body is a specific thing for a specific purpose, creations purpose. It is attuned to inhabit and apprehend at a certain frequency but communication of breath and body is wide band. You simply disregard possibility to say you only appear as a certain thing.

How would you know what a hydrogen atom knows being convinced that mind does not exist there?
