And it hasn't shown any signs of revival. Seems like it got popular in the post-9/11 era when there was an increase in consumption of comfort foods such as ice cream. Some of the cupcake businesses involved in the craze started in NYC. http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424127887324345804578425291917117814 https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2014/07/08/saying-goodbye-to-crumbs-is-the-cupcake-fad-over-yet/?utm_term=.acfb70bf873b The bacon craze in the U.S. is still going strong.
i had no idea there was a cupcake craze. i feel like i've seen way fewer cupcakes since 9/11 than i did before.
I’ve never actually watched Cupcake Wars on the Food Network but scrolling through the stations with remote I’ve occasionally come across it Hotwater
several of the artists i 'know' from online make those adult coloring books. by which i don't mean porn ones, though it wouldn't surprise me if someone made those too, but i mean like realistic scenes, of gardens and hippie houses and of course anthro/furry people, and other terrestrial and extraterrestrial life forms. i've also seen these in places like barns and noble and also smaller independent book stores.

Well, I have seen some episodes of that sitcom "Two Broke Girls." Seems one lost a fortune, the other makes cupcakes. Perfect way to continue losing... and losing it seems. Is it funny? Are cupcakes relevant? Or best kept for office birthday parties and children's festivities? Is there a deity involved here somehow which requires us to chant to the holy cupcake?
well actually i hadn't heard of a cupcake thing either, but i just figured like most things that i hear about for the first time that were supposed to have been a big thing somewhere, that somewhere must have been some other part of the world or at least of the country. which is always at least possible. i remember in the 80s there was a big popularity thing with muffins though. that was also when you could get chocklet nufchatelle and mouse classique at an ordinary grocery store, and lapsong souchong in the tea isle. at any rate, the grown up coloring book thing, that's something i am seeing now, where live, in northern nevada, which is one state away from the pacific coast and reno being less then a hundred miles from donner summit, the top of my northern california mountains. now being 2016, incase anyone necros this five years from now.
Just when I thought cupcakes were considered 'passe' a shop opened in our desolate wilderness area offering miniature cupcakes, at $5.00 US per bite, cause that's about all they are. One bite per mini cake. Five bucks per bite... How long til they close the doors?
