    We were much closer to martial law in the 60's.
    Martial law has been declared at least 11 times previously in the U.S.
    Once in the sixties.

    At the 1968 Democratic convention alone 23,000 police and National Guard were unleashed against 10,000 demonstrators.

    I don't see why they'd bother unless population control is a serious issue in their deluded "we are the saviors of the world" mindset. It's too bad money doesn't cure the ennui of existential existence or they'd already have everything.
