Turkey has opened up its Western Border for immigrants wanting to get into the EU

Thousands of migrants try to enter Europe as Turkey opens border

Greek army and police patrols have used tear gas and stun grenades in an attempt to stop thousands of refugees pouring into the country.

It comes after Turkey announced it was opening its western border to refugees and migrants travelling to the European Union.

Greece said it stopped nearly 10,000 migrants from crossing over from Turkey

I just gotta' ask: Who gives a $h!t what you asked or think? And why should anyone answer to YOU? It appears he has stated a relevant point, while you have not. Of course, why should YOU answer to ME for that matter?

It's funny that you won't lower yourself to converse with people who don't know as much as you.

It keeps him from actually having to engage while maintaining his false sense of supiority. In other words, you just witnessed narcissistic gaslighting.

And it's not even that I disagree with him. Unfortunately, he won't talk to me though. We were on about democratic socialism in some thread or other and he told me to go read a book! :)

  14. Let's be kind here.
You are talking about an elderly bloke who knows his stuff and is living in the UK.
I don't see any narcissism in him.
I see a very passionate bloke who hates the tories (aka the nasty party)

I also see a bloke who is very frustrated with many people's opinions on here.

  15. In other words he wants you to do your research.
    I understand his point.
I grew up with foster parents who were from the UK so i know exactly what he means.
He's got a lot of knowledge.

    VG

He is an adviser, an employee of the government just as Dominic Cummings is an adviser, ar you saying Cummings is unimportant? In fact it is reported that Dr Leunig is close to Cummings who has similar views. This report seems to have been written for the Treasury, I believe that advisers are a bit like jobbing journalists they might be in one department but can be asked to work for others.

Thing is here you don’t seem to be putting up any substantive counter arguments and then you try to change the subject to migrants on the borders of Europe.

LOL I’m guessing you wouldn’t be jealous of someone that actually has knowledge because you lack self-awareness about your own deep ignorance on so much that you display almost daily

    Fishing and Agriculture

Leavers said fishing and farming would flourish in a Brexit Britain, remainers pointed out that given the data it was more probable that they would be devastated (through cuts in subsidies, regulations and the loss of markets).

We also pointed out this was a neoliberal project being pushed by neoliberals for neoliberal ends. That they were unlikely to keep up the subsidies that many farmers depended on to exist or give the assistance needed in hard times.

Yes fishing isn’t a large sector but was talked a lot about by leavers during the campaign with its rather jingoistic shouting of ‘taking back control of OUR waters’. The more realist remainers however kept explaining that fishing could very easily find itself in real difficulties in anything but the mildest Brexit (it exports most of it catch to the EU) and that in anything harder that it would probably need government assistance and investment.

Neoliberals hate government subsidies, assistance and investment

So it not surprising that leaked Treasury report from a economics adviser has acknowledged that such things as fishing and farming are of no critical importance to the country’s economy and basically the government should take the opportunity of Brexit to let them go.

I don’t think this is going to happen immediately as this would devastate those coastal and rural areas that were bamboozled into voting for Brexit, but imagine it will be the Tory direction of travel.
