Give the homeless a home, thats obvious! so they wont be homeless, but registrated as well, as having a home, and from there they got more chance to get a job and a normal life...
books and food they got from librairy and organisations already.
What they need is a home, so give them a home.
Build less jails and more home, or recycle jailstate into state for the ex-homeless..
    that wil be much better.

what he mean is that it doenst solve the main problem who is having no place to live..it is like a patch on a broken leg.. They use their clothes like a home, to protect them from hte weather.. and thats not exactly the greatest help they can get. Better than nothing, but doesnt solve the problem.

Always a house first, but if can't give the person a home, and they could use clothes, why not?

Yes, that way of course, but he ment that they need other things too. I am sure the state can give them a home, they just dont want to do so. They see it as a bigger problem to help them that way than having people livign in misery, and let it to the population charity to help those peopl out.
Many homeless ended there because of something real bad happening in their life. They shouldnt be left off like that.
If we can build Abomb and but milliards in jet fly for the army, then we can put some millions into building some for the homeless.
Less war engines, and more compassion.

Why only give clothes to the homeless? There is a multitude of commodities they lack - nutricious food, beverages, reading material, basic toiletries, etc. Why just clothes? They aren't exactly in short supply of vestments.

clothes are def a need. I mean if I were homeless I would really miss having nice clothes.

That sounded shallow, but I'm really not that shallow...I just love clothes.
Why do you not love clothes?

First of all I am 15 so I dont exactly have the income to purchase homes for these people even though I surely would. I have given up all my clothes except one pair of sandals 1 shirt 1 pair of jeans the rest I have given to homeless myself.I walk to the greyhound bus station 2 miles everyother day and give them new clean clothes. Usually timberand and other nice clothes and socks coats and other clothing items. I am on the verge of starting a non-profit my church and my friends and family send me clothes to go hand out to the poor. I am only one kid so I cant give them everything nessacary but I try and they usually seem very appreciative and happy at being able to change from thier tattered stained clothes into something new and clean.

I'm not saying just give them clothes. I'm sure whatever they get they will greatly appreciate it. I know I would, if I were in their shoes. If I had more money than I knew what to do with, I would clean up Washington DC first and get those people off the street. I would build homes and make the schools there better by taking them down and start new. Then I will go other places as well.

You are very good to do so, and it isnt about people like oyu given them a home, but about the state doing so. Lets take 1 % of the army budget, and it will make large enough to build houses for all the homeless in the entire states.
And it is good for them to have clothes, but the guy wasnt saying to dont give them clothes but to give them other things AS WELL. That they need too.
For me to see a house . i dont get why people dont crave that the state build houses for the homeless. Bush is christian, isnt he?
So what is he waiting for? and ll the mormons, instead of building fanciful rococo exhuberantly expensive temples, why dont they put some for the homeless too?

Thats very generous and grand from you, but i think that we could start by make a demonstration to push the state to build houses for the homeless and the very poor. Thats the minimum they can do.
They put money in so many crazy useless things, they could do soemthing usefull, charitable and permanent and who wont cost much at all, with that one.

And your idea is greate of letting them go back to school and build their life again. I think after years in the streets, one needs really help to go back to a decent life.

If that is the case, then why doesn't the rich people like actors/singers..etc.. dig in their pockets?
It takes a very special person to think more of others than they do themselves.
