I've heard you appreciate wine the older you get. I remember downing a cask when I was a teenager. Never felt so sick in my life, literally the worst shit I'd ever tasted. It was a red wine. My father told me that it's because red wine is meant to be had at room temp and I'd like white wine because it's generally chilled. So I tried white wine. Piss.

My mom always drank wine and I grew up with it plus my fiancé likes it too.
I prefer mead though, the good Saxon girl that I am. =]

I tried to make mead from an online recipe. It was ok but the next time (if there is a next time) I won't use as much sugar. Actually I might just get a yeast that tolerates a higher alcohol content to cut down on the leftover sugar.

Same with me. I had Mad Dog 20/20, lol, at a couple of parties in high school, and I drank some Boones Farm with a girlfriend around the same time period. Both gave me heartburn and I didn't care for them.

I think boones is the mandatory drink for underage drinkers. Mad dog might be too but i never saw it around when there was kids drinking.

I've never made my own mead but always wanted to. I have the room now to make my own beers and brews, I'm going to give it a go. =]

When I was growing up Goon was the cheap underage drink. I remember vividly having that shit poured down my throat. I think they'd always make it sweeter by adding juices with the mix. But there was always empty casks of that stuff at any given party hehe.

What is underage in Europe? Isn't the drinking age 16?

Depends on the country I think. But I spent my teenage years in Australia, not Europe.
I know in most eastern German pubs and bier gardens/halls as long as youth are with adults, I'm pretty sure they're allowed a couple of drinks. Some places will even brew their own beer for underage. This is usually a mid range alcohol mixed with lemonade. It's also a good drink to have when you're off your face at Oktoberfest and somehow have to pull up and go at it again the next day, perfect starter.
I never really thought much about it but one day a man said to me the difference between German culture to others is when the young a introduced to alcohol at a younger age they respect it a bit more. He said you don't see many fights over here but in other countries where youth weren't introduced as early, they all fight like morons, like in Australia.

21 is a old drinking age here. At 18 you are considered an adult. You can buy cigarettes or a gun but you can not drink. Then when people turn 21 they go overboard.

And you can gamble at 18 too?
21 is a bit ridiculous what happened over there? How'd a country built by drunk Irishman ever get that law passed? =p

Yes you can gamble too. Or be drafted into the army although we don't have a draft anymore. The law says they can bring it back if they want.

America was founded by people who were too conservative for 15th century Europe. We are not a liberal people and that shows with some of our politicians now. We are the only country in the world who accepts religious logic over science besides maybe the middle east.

And that strikes me as so odd when I think of NASA alone.

Atheism is growing in the country. But we still have people who say this is a Christian country. The men who founded the country were atheists and they wrote a law about separating church and state. I guess people don't read that part of the history book.

Well I know there are always prayers before a NASCAR race. =p I know your anthem off by heart because of that sport. ^.^ I don't really have a problem with religion itself it's just the followers really. Like I believe the teachings are quite beautiful and if they're going to help someone out in life I am all for it, I just don't want to always hear about it in ways like "if you don't believe you go to hell". I think we are way past that kind of silliness nowadays.

Yeah that is why I hope Bush does not win the next election. It will bring all the super religious people back into politics.
