I've never seen anybody lose it quite so badly as a coworker in northern Quebec from the black flies. We were both falling on two separate ends of a block... And all of sudden he comes running by me buck naked (except for his caulk boots) screaming and hitting trees with an axe. He showed up again about 20 minutes later looking a little sheepish. Complete mental breakdown.

I personally would take Ontario black flies over Yukon mosquitoes any day of the week, though.

Welding? Sweet that's my profession by trade, haven't run into anyone else on the net that does it really. I haven't actually welded in a very long time maybe 7 years. I had some eye surgery and the thought of an arc flash or spark getting in my eye now really terrifies me. Considering my specialist said that the problems with my eyes may have in fact arose out of UV exposure.. I take UV pretty seriously.

im way better with mig but that day was using the stick

best tool ive ever bought was an auto darken helmet..i used to get flashed all the time before i bought that

my trade is auto tech but i learned to weld because id rather buy one and do it myself instead of paying someone else

Rofl. Yeah I got an auto lens in my second year of apprenticeship. Had enough of having my rod in place then having to headbang the lens down and lose where I was.
I was much better with the stick for some reason. The MIG eh, I'm sure it was all operator related but I had trouble with amps and wire feed. I used to write notes all the time for different machines, I believe most of the machines int he workshop were old and all worked differently. I wasn't treated the greatest as an apprentice andd had boring cleats and beams to cut all day on the grinder or oxy. I really only got to weld at tech and my boss always complained I couldn't weld very good until I sparked off at him and told him "give me something to do then, I only weld one day a week at tech for a couple of hours, my lack of skills relates to your management". Then we had a foreman change and this old guy Barry, we called him Bazza, he took me under his wing. Within a year I was out on site by myself welding up stair cases and handrails.
