    Mel, why bother?

You'd have a better chance getting a housecat to understand your point.

    Facts are not opinions.

    Liberal sanctuary cities exist. Fact.

Presenting oneself as seeking asylum is not the same as an illegal immigrant. Fact.

Most Latin American countries offer asylum. In Europe, in terms of the number of asylum applications actually granted in various countries last year, Germany is way out ahead with 148,000, followed by Sweden, Italy, France and the UK (18,000).
In terms of refugees per head of population, Sweden accepted the most last year.

The countries are fucked because the world's most powerful military has made sure they stayed that way.
The US has actively sought to destabilize them politically and economically so that American corporations could profit while also suppressing socialism.
It's not nothing-- it's definitely a lot more extreme than the Russians making Trump president... I mean, people died, lost their land, lost their freedom etc... because of the US.

Yes you're right. You go to the U.S. embassy to start the process, you don't rush the gate.
There should be a box that the "fringe" can check on their tax returns so they can contribute to the well being of the huddled masses as they push north over the border, breaking in line in front of those who respect the rule of law.

I am saying you are lying to yourself if you think that this is about your respect for the law.
You don't give a shit about the law.

In some ways casual drug use is worse because it often supports violent drug cartels in Mexico and gang activity in the US... so by using them, you are indirectly supporting murders, prostitution, human trafficking, etc... all kinds of nasty activities.

Illegal immigrants commit fewer murders than natives while also doing the jobs that nobody wants to do. They don't steal, don't cheat, don't do anything that might expose them as illegal. Their 'crime' is about as harmless as you can get.

History of US intervention in Honduras
The US role in repression in Honduras | Letters

Basically they sanctioned murders, tortures, fascism, and the general ruin of people's lives so that first-world corporations could get cheap fruit.

And it wasn't the first time... it has been going on for decades.

Not sure I would base my argument on an obscure left wing publication.. Most tend to embellish things to make for more dramatic reading.

Theres no requirement to go to an Embassy, you can present yourself at a checkpoint. And no one gets to skip in line, there is an application queue. You have to wait until the applications of those who applied in front of you are processed.

Sad day for America when people who have empathy for other people are now considered "fringe." I would be very happy to check that box if i coule uncheck a few others but it doesnt work like that does it

So what's wrong with people seeking political asylum?

Political asylum was recognized by the ancient Egyptians. Descartes, Voltaire, the Dalai Lama, Bobby Fisher, and Thomas Hobbes were all granted asylum in foreign countries.

So, every country in the world that is fucked, is fucked because of the US?

Its cool and trendy to be a US hater, especially from within the US, sipping a soy latte ordered from Starbucks

Gang violence is caused by human trafficking?....or maybe its caused by, you know......gangs

Why dont the countries that have a far bigger problem with human trafficking have the same kind of cartel violence as Mexico et al

Thats a very dodgy correlation, where do you get that from?

Ironically, the one country doing better than the rest in that region, is Nicaragua
