Coming This spring I'll be rebuilding the 390 and the C-6 out of the Torino. Haven't decided if I want maybe up the Horses a tad or leave it stock. I did find these parts which I'm going to install. What says 60's Fords High Performance more than Holman-Moody?

    That sucks....

Do they just send you a ticket, like a red light camera?

In the spirit of this thread...... today I saw the cutest thing. I pulled up to a 4way stop, and stopped at the same time as 2 high-school looking kids, in a 4-door honda, and not the sporty type of 4-door (me in my ratty sports car). I waved him on, and without looking at me, he floored it, with a tiny chirp and the obvious sound of an automatic transmission accelerating..... baseball cap backwards, sunglasses in place:love:

But, I suppose I'd drive the shit out of him mom's new soccer-practice mobile, too.

    Not much. does, I agree
I LOOOVE the proper pony cars, and the Torino was always so cool. We didn't see many down under, but I have played with a 390.

Why not up the horses? After all, the VE of the original engine would have been lucky to be 15%. You should be able to get that up to over 20%, but don't over-carb it. I remember seeing a 1050 on a street 390...the owner may as well have just poured the fuel straight down the drain.

You could go REALLY radical with the Shelby 4-carb manifold, but I don't think it would fit under the bonnet (hood),

And this is what the cops used before they had modern Jets.
    Notice the bullet nose.

Oops, smaller version must have been for compact cars.

I knew a dude whose mother bought him a new 69 428 CJ Cyclone automatic with ram air back in 69. I think it was 69. Boy did we have fun with that car! In one month it needed four tires and all four brakes. We used to cruise space highway in excess of 120mph, which was the highest readout the speedo would give.

So one day, after the police raid on hippie park, we did some stuff and drove these three AWOL marines back to Paris Island from Pittsburgh, PA. Seems to me we left Sunday night and got them back before sunup Monday. Met up with a friend on rt 95 somewhere in Virginia or someplace as we were cruising at about 110 at some hour in the morning. I could see this Mopar's headlights gaining on us and figured it was a State Fury. But when it pulled along side it turned out to be Crazy George on his way to Florida in his New Yorker. So we passed a bottle between us at speed, pulled over and decided to race to N.C. But the Marines had to take a leak, so Crazy George got away.
    But I'm rambling on.....

The car lasted a year before the dude blew the cam outa it.

Yeah, it was an auto. But you gotta realize we were eighteen years old or so. And this dude calls up and sez my mom's taking me to look at cars, so we all pile in with his mother and head to the Merc dealer.
He heads inside with her and I'm standing around with this other dude on the lot and there's this brand new yellow CJ out front, roped off, with flags all over it, obviously the hottest car on the lot. And he walks out and sez, I got a car. And we say what did you get, thinking like a Comet or something and he points to that Beautiful CJ and sez, that one. We weren't really thinking about the tranny at that point.
Which, by the way, put out enough heat that you didn't need the heater in the winter.

It looked like this one except it had the snake badges on the side and no drag pack.

I was thinking of going with the old tri-power setup but there around 1500-2000 bucks in good condition if you can find one. I'll more than likely replace the 650 Holley double pumper with a 750. Period correct of course. There will be no Edelbrock stuff on this thing.

Theres not many 68-69 Torinos around here either. Thats why I bought it instead of having yet another Mustang running around.

I agree, why in the hell do you need 2 four barrells, a turbocharger and a blower. That thing must be a nightmare to get running right.

    - i owned one of those m8, exactly that color, they are a 351cc v8 ford falcon GT coupe, and i also raced one similar at the bathurst 1000 car race for 2 years.

    - the 1972 4 door ford falcon XY GT-HO (shaker) was the best ford they ever made, it literally crushed your bones when you drove one.

    - this is the 4 door version of that 2 door coupe.

Love it. Thanks. I wish Ford would have taken some of the styling tips from your divisions.

top van is a 1975 HX holden sandman in lime green, these were sports models made in 1974 HJ, 1975 HX and 1976 HZ then phazed out, but holden made these panel vans in a stock non sporty version between 1972 up to about 1985.

the bottom photo is a sandman concept car from the late 90's i believe, never got off the production line if my memory serves me well, but a few may have been made.

i owned several holden vans, and one was a sandman, the others were just standard panel vans customized, and i ran a panel van custom interior business back in the late 70's for a few years when these vans were huge business.
