For the casual fan, blood. It's aesthetically pleasing watching 2 guys beat the hell out of each other. That's not why I enjoy it. I'm not a casual fan, not one punch has to be thrown for me to enjoy mixed martial arts. I like the competitive aspects of the sport. Can he get back into full guard, can he reverse the position, will he try to transition, what will he do in the clinch, he's loosing the stand up can he take him down? Shit like that. There's a method to the madness, it's not berserker vs. berserker. I guess you have to train to understand.
what kind of question is that? why do people enjoy sex? why do people enjoy eating? why do people enjoy video games? why do people enjoy posting on hipforums? why do people enjoy smoking weed? people are all different, and have different interests. some people enjoy beating up uppity hippie kids who post passive aggressive attacks like they're innocent questions.
Some people see violence, others see art. Competitive fighting is the ultimate in human competition. The ultimate in human potential. The training, discipline and devotion required to become a champion is beyond comprehension unless you've tried your hand at it. Have you ever fought in a ring?... I suppose that's a silly question. In a fight, nothing else exists but you and your opponent. Two people going toe to toe, utilizing all their training, having to think very quickly under immense pressure and while enduring physical pain. Take all this to the top level, and it is truly amazing to see what some of these fighters can do.
I like Aikido ., so effective for little guy like me.. but id use a weapon on him... Anything to distract him. his eyes and knees would be my targets.. Ive always liked lesner since wrestling..
Yeah...that was not the question, that's a given...I already understand that everyone has different opinions on what gives them pleasure...hence why I asked, "Why do people enjoy watching competitive violence?" Maybe I was just not specific enough.... You see now that's the type of answer I was looking for....now I've managed to so the "why" from another perspective, rather than simply reinforce something I already knew (that being many opinions exist)....thank you very much Jimmy. That was actually very insightful...
who cares how he did it. he's the champion. if you want art, watch tae kwon do. ufc is all about being the realest sport fight you can legally have. of course a bigger stronger guy's gonna have the advantage.
What bothers me the most is that he was given a title shot after fighting twice in the UFC. Especially when one of those was a loss. He's got the belt, but he's no champion.
meh, it's about ratings. i don't doubt that it was unfair to give him the title shot that quick. but he's proven himself a champion in my book after whooping mir.
Everything else being equal, the bigger stronger guy has the advantage. If there's a glaring weakness(I suspect that Brock doesn't take well to getting punched in the face but, maybe I'm wrong) then that advantage isn't really that big a factor. Brock is learning as he goes which is scary, he's learning very fast. He's a beast but, we'll see when he fights the elite of the division.
Oh shit looks like Lesnar wants Fedor http://www.mmanews.com/ufc/Video:-ESPNs-MMA-Live-UFC-100-Recap.html Here's hoping the UFC signs him.
Agreed. He got unfair title shots because of his size and fan base of being a pro wrestler. He's gotten to be a less sloppy fighter, but he's a show, not a legend. Did someone say Fedor earlier? Fedor is a fighting genius. I think he's about thirty pounds to big and 5 years to old to start a serious martial arts career. But UFC is a bit of a joke, and the rule set may actually set up Brock to be a champ for a while. I'm not a fan really. The guy sounds like a moron in his interviews.
His stand up is terrible but, he's got gorilla arms. His reach, strength and the size of his fists are the great equalizers. Now, if he went and trained his stand up in Holland for a year or two...
