though bubble gum i think was first; "norman, oo oo oo oo oo, oo oo oo norman"...
back in the early 60s (by the chaundelles, or something like that i think). other then the substance itself of course.

i think "(i smell) sex and candy" was a kind of nostelgia for that.

norman oo oo oo oo, oo oo oo norman. i don't remember who it was that sang it. sometime back in the late 50s/early 60s. pretty sure in inspired the term bubblegum to invented retroactively.

of course the whole point was and is innocently sexy-cute.
"i smell sex and candy" modern retro revival there of.

how do i feel about it? well i was too young and horny when it was being over done to notice how thoroughly it was being over done. like all things that are, people got tired of it eventually and started hating on it.

like anime, i would say all things in reasonable moderation
(and yes i know, that makes me sound like somebody's grandmother back then)

Yeah, I like Bobby Vinton, hotwater, and tht is a pretty song....but it is too sad for me right now. I need to try to elevate my mood again somehow.

 

I suppose I can see how that song could touch the wrong chord (pun intended)

I guess i'm hardwired to always be upbeat :2thumbsup:
