    Friends:

A hundred years from now (that is, if this tumultous world of ours is even still in existence by thast time), I truly believe that not even the greatest geniuses in the mental health field will FINALLY be able to tell us WHY....exactly WHY..... some of us men are born either gay or bisexual?

I have read so much over the years on the whys and wherefores of what makes a man be born not heterosexual.

Some say it has to do with the types of parents we had; others believe that it is a borderline "birth defect".

Still others, especially the ultra-religious, ultra-conservative, will forever cling to the cruel, insensitive, ignorant, and downright VICIOUS belief that we CHOOSE our sexuality.

WHY would ANY man PURPOSELY choose to live a lifestyle that is condemned and looked down upon by so many.....a lifestyle that can (and usually does) lead to discrimination, heartbreak, and worse?

Long ago, I, too, questioned WHY I was born a GAY man.

It took many, many years before I finally simply said to myself: "I am what I am. I cannot be any other man but the man I am."

Though being a celibate gay man in a largely straight world has NOT been an easy (nor pleasant) life-journey for me, I have now simply accepted what the fates have dictated, and simply live my life one day at a time.

The other big "WHY" is STILL ponder.....is WHY we FINALLY just cannot stop the hatred and the bigotry, and simply learn to ACCEPT one another for what we ARE, and live as brothers.......

Once upon a time, long, long ago, even before we came down from the trees, we developed a keen sense of tribalism; a mechanism to instantaneously differentiate who was "friend" and who was "foe". This became a vital evolutionary trait as we competed for territory and resources; literal survival of the tribe depended upon getting this right every time.
Now, instead of beating one another over the head with sticks and stones, we have intercontinental ballistic missiles with thermonuclear warheads. But deep down inside, within a crucial part of our collective amygdallas, we're still swinging from our proprietary trees, loudly screeching and throwing shit at each other.

May you find healing and peace.

I can't speak for anyone but myself but I don't believe in the term Bi or Gay, there's just sex. whether with a woman or man its for the purpose of gratification. I hold no vices on peoples sexual preference, except their ability to accept to consenting adults doing what they do in private. Not hurting or doing anything other than mutual pleasing.

Good to have you back with us, my friend!

I read you loud and clear; for all of our advancements and technological knowledge, we are, sad to say, still so primi"tive and barbaric, and becoming even more so in the 21st century.

Sadly, we are seeing more and more of a slipping back through to the eons to "caveman mentality".

Why we simply follow the old standard "live and let live" is totally beyond me.

Look at road rage; look at how many kill each other over a parking space, or an item that's on sale at a store.

For gay and bi men, the ever-growing insensitivity and hostility now so rampant in today's society is truly sad and sickening.

The say "love conquers all".........I'd love to see the day when it finally does.......

Well said, Eddy, and I could NOT agree more.

We would TRULY advance ourselves as a society if we could FINALLY move past all the labeling.

I don't know why people have the sexual orientations that they have. I also do not know if any studies have been done on the subject.

It is interesting to compare that with gender identity. In that case, studies have been done, and it is pretty much an established fact that gender identity is biological, determined in the 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy by hormone levels. It would not surprise me if similar influences were at work with sexual orientation.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter where it comes from. What matters is that we are who we are. None of this stuff is a choice.
