Matt 7:23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' I think that was a comment on the apostasy. A way for Jesus to say, "If you sin and say that it is good and something that I wanted you to do, then don't expect me to acknowledge those behaviors as something I commanded". For example, that minister that we heard on the news that wished for Obama's death. People like him would say that he was doing that to honor God and Jesus' message. So in the end, it's a comment on acts such as described in my example.
So he doesn't neccessarily condemn them just doesn't support what they were doing in his name. I agree this seems to fit. Also in John 17:35,36 35Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. 36But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away Here he's not driving them away even though they do not believe. Maybe some hope for those with doubts me thinks.
I believe that when Jesus says he is the bread of life and those who comes to me will never go hungry, Jesus is talking about Spiritual food and drink, thus those who do not believe will go Spiritually hungry and thirsty. So those who come to Jesus are those are who are willing to accept Spiritual food and drink from Jesus. Yes, there is hope for those with doubts but they have to accept Spiritual food and drink from Jesus.
I am thinking that even if we have our doubts, as long as we see the validity of Jesus' message enough to apply it to our lives then we are accepting his spiritual food. If we accept his spiritual food, despite our doubts, then I am thinking that we end up believing in Jesus' testimony. Maybe even an atheist with his many doubts, accepting Jesus' spiritual food would be enough to say they believe ... ?
The story about the sheppard rescuing the one lost sheep and the fish being forcibly dragged out the water come to mind.
How ridiculously redundant a thing to say when attempting to defend the Judea Christian god. Made me laugh though.
never in my life has something seemed so ridiculous but then again, I made palaver with a demon today at work, so who knows, I could be skewed
It's not redundant or ridiculous. There is a difference between killing and murder, there are many cases where the killing of someone would not be considered murder, self defense being one of them.
When (at what time of day) was Jesus crucified? Mark 15:25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. John 19:14-16 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King! But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar. Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified.
Be not afraid of those who can kill the body. Turn the other cheek. You have heard it said you shall not kill and whoever kills shall be liable to judgment. But I say everyone who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment.
Actually no, Jim Jones did not want his disciples to eat and drink from what Jesus provides, Jim Jones wanted his disciples to eat and drink from what he was providing.
It says "about" the sixth hour in John. Although the Young's literal translation does not include "about".
