not a trippy film but a cartoon series from the 80's jayce and the wheeled riders, i somtimes stick an episode on when im coming down, is quite cool.
The Science of Sleep. Hedwig and The Angry Inch. But I like sappy, artsy movies with animation and good soundtracks. These are not so much "trippy" as just beautiful (though they definitely have trippy elements).
Miyazaki is a fucking master. I have seen paprika and my neighbor totoro but I like spirited away better
I've recently began hearing wonderful things about that movie. Not sure if anyone has mentioned Akira yet, but it's fuckin awesome. You gotta be prepared for some fukt up shit though, if you intend on watching it while tripping.
not sure i'd want to see the holy mountain fantastic planet looks pretty good dark crystal i Will watch. i loved the labyrinth when i was a kid. the old woman at 1:20 in the trailer is the same voice from the creepy woman in the labyrinth can you elaborate. i ask b/c i might be getting some ketamine, and i've seen waking life. what are other movies or hallucinogens about? body, spirit, the universe? i will def watch this one too, hope they have it at blockbuster
the plot is extremely open to interpretation, and people's opinions on the matter vary wildly. a lot of people say the entire movie depicts a nightmare, some say it must be taken at face value as depiction of a horrible reality. i take it more or less at face value, but think that it is essentially a horrible reality as experienced by a very unstable, perhaps mentally ill or otherwise demented or delusional man, adding to the freak-factor. i don't think any film has portrayed the uncanny so well as this one - it is at once rapturous, familiar, alien, hilarious and terrifying. i don't think i've ever seen a movie as fundamentally frightening or weird as this. it has an air of alien, grotesque strangeness while at the same time feeling familiar and exquisitely human. the plot is simple and straightforward - there is little in the movie that isn't shown. however, the meaning of the unfolding events is totally up for debate.
Fear & Loathing is my shit! Thats like one of my fantasies, I wish I could go to Vegas with an arsenal like that and wild out for like a week or two straight.
I haven't skimmed through the thread yet, but a fellow psychonaut recommended the movie 'Paprika' to me. How about Fight Club? Edit: I see you mentioned Paprika in the last line of your post Nesta. I watched the intro and it was quite good, I'll finish it eventually.
I can't watch that movie anymore, unless I'm tripping. Watching it on 33mg of 2ce ruined it for me. I've always wanted to see "What Dreams May Come" while tripping. That movie is amazing.
Yes. It was just too amazing while tripping to ever watch sober again. It was crazy. I felt like I was tripping on every drug they were using in the movie.
here are a few I didn't see mentioned; Zardoz "The gun is good, The penis is evil" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070948/ Heavy Metal http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=Heavy+Metal&x=17&y=9 Memento (the 2000 one) http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=Memento&x=15&y=11 Pans Labyrinth http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457430/ some pretty violent scenes in this one Donnie Darko http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=donnie+darko MirrorMask http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=mirrormask&x=22&y=12 Time Bandits was mentioned and I second it, it's a great comedy
i just watched this, and its good. simple plot, but abstract enough that im still wondering what represented what. yeah ketamine is a very narrow-bandwidth drug, it shuts your body down, so theres no union there, and it has nothing to do with anything outside of you (makes sense, since you dont know of anything outside of you with no body). so all that's left is your awareness and your thoughts. ketamine's district is just that of mind. similarly, waking life is all about philosophy and modes of reasoning and other "mind" stuff. ever done acid or shrooms? those are much fuller unions with All. YES! Fantastic movie, very beautiful visual effects, and powerful plot.
Indeed, and it would probably get very intense in all the best and worst possible ways, which is always good for a life-changing trip.
