I've said before that impeachment is a waste of money, nothing else. Claim it as a victory for democrats if you think that's reality. It's not though, they've screwed themselves for the next decade.

I don't moderate opinions, just the rules of the site. Most of the time I'm only involved with spammers and people who denigrate other members. We just had a substantial lesson in how that works. We have had bad cop moderators over the years, but they usually don't last very long. One of them was dumb enough to suspend another mod. Shit happens. Really though, Zen doesn't seem to take any actual shit and all of us look out for the site above our own personal shit. I'd never bring a weapon to a discussion.



What I find amusing is how shortsighted the whole idea of "anyone but Trump" really is. It imagines that nobody worse that Trump can possibly exist. Which is not so shocking when you consider how many nazis and dictators he's been compared to (laughable really). What if "anyone but" turns out to be a cunning manipulator who decides we much execute everyone below 5'5" in height? Or he makes chicken nuggets illegal.

 

I think it is things like the "Anyone But Trump" movement that are making people lose faith in the Democratic party. It's a bit overly dramatic and makes it challenging to take the party seriously. And I'm no conservative.

 

Aren't those stickers funny though. But yeah... @YouFreeMe has a point. It makes me feel like overconfidence is a definite problem. We have to mobilize against the problem of 2020. While poking fun does some for morale, I'm not sure it translates to a win at the ballot.

I was mulling Tom Steyer (not really) this morning as he was interviewed on CNN. I think it was Dana Bash doing the asking, but I can't remember now. Might have been someone else.

Anyway, the problem with accepting anyone but Trump is apparent because you end up settling for a mediocre candidate. But about that Steyer. Have we written him off because he is a billionaire and therefore likely incapable of doing the right thing? I wonder if he wouldn't show us all some serious business acumen. Still, I like Sanders more simply because his policies own.

 

Wow....this is a great post. I long for the days we there was some level of ethics and morality in our government. Almost any civil servant in America has a better knowledge of conflict of interest than Trump and his administration. It seems like a history of unethical and shady dealing is prerequisite for working for Trump. The Republicans seem to think anything goes. I remember when Sen. Orin Hatch came out with the Hatch Act. Prohibiting a range of political activity by Federal Employees. But now we see example after example of Trump appointees violating the Hatch Act and Orin Hatch is silent and Absent.
