Well, someone is alive. Thanks. Funny story about that song. 2 fourth of july's ago I ate a bunch of shrooms with my gf and a couple friends at a party. This guy who could play guitar but was really weird figured we were tripping and came and sat across from us with his guitar. Then said in some serious voice "have you guys heard of pink floyd?".. I got so confused figuring out if this guy was for real, then the way he was singing really started creeping us all out. So we got up and left. That song hasn't been then same since, but I think you just redeemed it.

I always forget about pink floyd. probably because I listened to them entirely too much in the past lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gw_QJ8hliIc"]Mother - Pink Floyd (Lyrics) - YouTube
lol! It's always so awkward when a weirdo joins you out of the blue when you are tripping. I was tripping out hard on a bench in a park in Amsterdam once when this Vietnamese guy sat down next to me and started talking. I think he may have been hitting on me. I was lucky that my buddy randomly found me there and sat down with me. Sometimes I feel like you act as a magnet for weirdness and weird people when you're tripping.
my favourite Floyd song "If I go insane, please don't put your wires in my brain" :dizzy2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2G8EWy-plM"]Pink Floyd - If
the floyd was good, BEFORE "the wall". i thought the wall was totally fucked up neo nazi crap. dark side of the moon was wonderful. but the wall, i think the stress of doing the project just totally destroyed them. and the result, i just remember thinking, what the hell IS this crap. of course i guess, most of you reading this, is like its some historical artifact you've dug up or something. so i'm sure it looks different from that perspective, then how it did to the twenty something i was at the time. pinball wizard was another project like that. the who, if i recall correctly. had a couple of good songs but the rest was depressing and went down hill from there. there were other things. good things. better things. lot better things. heavy. the association. the fudge. and so on. airplane and tull and the moodies. yes and tangarene. emerald web. look them up if you don't believe me.
gonna sound silly but of all the music that came out in the last 60 years, 1,000s of bands, why does everyone worship the same 4? Pink Floyyd, Greatful Dead, Beatles (this ok...), etc. I imagine 80% of the [new] fans nowadays know zilch about music before the 80s, and are only listening to the "these are the 5 bands classics!!" Ya know??
Yes, that's why am generally inclined to ramble about Hawkwind every time when another Pink Floyd thread comes up. Especially in psych rock context, since the floyd seem more progressive rock to me musically. I tried not to this time
I prefer The Wall over Dark Side of the Moon, actually. The Wall was the first CD my dad ever bought me, when I was like 13/14 (after years of not really having any relationship with him).. I remember getting high as hell and falling asleep to it. It holds some special place in my cold heart https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZkERB6dU_Y"]Pink Floyd - Nobody Home (The Wall Movie) - YouTube
Good question, considering there is so much great music that far too many people are unaware of. The answer partly lies in marketing, in conjunction with what has been made "popular" both by radio and popular culture over the span of the past 40 years. I think Pink Floyd are one of the few bands that are really worthy of the praise they receive, but too many people are only aware of what they've heard on the radio. I don't even take a person seriously if they call themselves a fan of Pink Floyd, yet cannot name at least five songs they did pre-DSTOM. I really think the radio has done a lot of hurt my appreciation of a lot of Floyd's later work, most of which is very good but overplayed.
I don't see what is so great about their studio albums, though they were one hell of a live band, and Space Ritual is really quite a trip to listen to while under the influence of varying substances.
Neo Nazi crap? Dafuq?? Clearly you don't even get what it's about. There is nothing about The Wall that even tried to remotely glamorize Nazism.
This wasn't meant to be a pink floyd tribute (although they are very talented and groundbreaking imo). I was drunk and HF was dead. But carry on. Let me hear just one more time about how there is such great music out there and everyone only listens to pink floyd and the dead.
You're the kind of girl who fits in with my world... I'll give ya anything, everything if ya want things <3
