WW2 shaming culture? Interesting. As someone descended from the "bad guys" and growing up in America, this is definitely a thing. My mother and grandparents won't even speak of the veterans in our family. I have no idea what they did or where they served. The fact that they wont tell me scares me

It has some unconstructive side effects though. As often is the case when something is made taboo or under a blatant shaming culture.

No, people from a country full of monuments to war criminals, traitors, and slave owners dont really get to shame others for respecting their history. Glass houses and all that.

I actually heard an argument from a guy about how messed up Japan is for their sanitized version of history and he even went as far as comparing the Bataan Death March to the Trail of Tears. I'm like dude Andrew Jackson is on our money

Neither religion or political beliefs cause wars, they simply become the tools of dictators.
I can understand the rise of Nazi beliefs in Germany in 1935, as I can communism at the time of the Russian revolution. However both created dictators who destroyed the concept for their countries.
While both concepts had broad similarities, Hitler and Stalin chose to allow millions of people to die over the 'small-print' If it were not so sad, it would be laughable.
Perhaps the only country that has made socialism work (after a fashion) is China and they seem to be set to take over the entire world without a single shot being fired.
Few people believe me, but I think that the one person who has 'seem through' their ultimate goal is Donald Trump.

PS, China currently owns about 40% of the property in London and they are set to retain ownership of our latest nuclear power stations.
I cannot believe how our politicians can be that stupid.

Trump supports Modi who wants to kill 200,000,000 Muslims or evict them from India. He has started to attack and shoot and beat Muslims in the streets. Trump has said Modi is his friend. Trump also supports Nattanyahoo in all the anti Muslim efforts. Trump has also declared he will just take the oil fields from Syria and Iraq, just because he thinks Christians have a right to steal from Muslims. All this has come after Trump's total Muslim ban.

While I think that he has seen through what is happening in China, I did not say that I was a Trump supporter. However, things are not helped by capitalists in the US, afraid that change will threaten their billions. It is often hard to see the real person and understand some of his reasoning, much of which seems to be 'off the cuff' and poorly though through.
Unfortunately, few people fully understand the true history of Iraq and Afghanistan, or realize the problems that started 300 years ago.
The Taliban were driven to the caves, they did not choose to move there out of choice.
Unfortunately, Saddam (who was supported by the US) went rebel and Bush used lies and manipulation to remove him. Sadly, the Taliban saw this as entirely oil related and have turned Iraq into a war zone.
If you seek the truth, ask yourself this question.? US forces claimed that the caves were impenetrable and no one could get into them alive. Then a BBC London film crew walked into the caves and made a documentary. We all know that this was cut prior to transmission in the UK and America seem to deny it's existence.
Now ask yourself if the everyday people in the US are being told the full truth about ANYTHING.

I don't claim to know the answers, but we should all be more aware of the questions.
Our daughters partner is an expert on the area, lectures at our leading universities and advises the EU and NATO. Perhaps next time she visits the US, Trump should invite her for a coffee.
However it would be of little use if the media misrepresented everything she said.

The Taliban have never been to Iraq, not even on vacation.

In dualistic religions, there is bound to be fear. I have seen the same in dualistic sects in Hinduism too.

This fear probably sets off the hatred and violence in sequence.

Sufism is considered to be the liberal and tolerant version of Islam but it also has a nondual philosophical background.
