Shrub was governor of Texas, not Massachusetts. Your current gov. is a real fart smeller, er I mean smart feller too. It's the Texas education you got that makes you ignorant of the truth. You know, the one that replaced the science of evolution with "intelligent design". That's your bible truth.

This thread is getting more and more hilarious with every post. Seriously, we have international cock measuring, and now some arbitrary/non-scientific poll put forward as fact.

Instead of focusing on over-seas aid - which undoubtedly helps some of the poorest people on the planet - why doesn't Ted Poe focus on military spending? As in the amount spent trying to be the 'world police'. How many countries does the U.S have military bases for e.g? Foreign aid is less than 1% of most countries GDP. How much do you think military spending is?

I think the U.S balance of trade fluctuates too much to determin if it is good or bad. Try not trading with anybody - see how that works out.
I do appreciate that you may not think the money is being distributed fairly - but that isn't down to others it is down to the U.S mentality (individualism).
It's also difficult to have sympathy when you are one of the richest countries on the planet.

A one store town isn't benefiting enough people.

    What does this mean?

I think the problem with the U.S is that it does not want to wear a blue hat and drive around in white vehicles - it would much prefer to plod around the world in red white and blue.

Most of us (from what I can tell) want to stay the fuck out of the rest of the world and let you all fend for yourselves. You deal with your problems, we deal with ours.

You want to trade? Cool. Need help? Sorry.

    What an intelligent post.

You know what, rj? You're right. You just really broke it down and made me realize how wrong I am about so many things. I am going tomorrow to voluntarily turn in my guns.

Wait, so, can you, or can you not, pass the buck to those who came before you, and happened to live in the same place that you happen to live?

Because you talk about americans of the past in a positive way, like that's a good thing for america. But then, when he mentions the massive atrocoties in american history, you blow it off, because you didn't have anything to do with it.

As far as being better than britan, well.... they DID run a worldwide empire, and then pass it off to the US, they literally trained the US to run the world..... because they're all in bed.

So, stop sounding like alex jones. Holding 200 year grudges, while forgetting the things that the US did 100 years ago, or 50 years ago, really doesn't work.

As far as mental toughness, well I guess if you don't count fast food, and credit cards, and any other temptation (I'm pretty sure we literally consume more drugs than the rest of the world put together, and we have 5% of the population. we also have the world's largest prison population, a full 25% of people behind bars are in the US -- this clearly attests to a lack of discipline, on the side of both those in prison, and those responsible for spending money we don't have to write and enforce insane laws), so, we don't even have the balls to resist a big mac..... To me, it sounds like "do as I say and not as I do", when you say shit about britan.

There are a lot of things about this country that make me proud of where I am from, and a lot of things I am not proud of. But I also wasn't even alive when they took place.

I don't need people from the most imperialistic nation in the history of the world to be criticizing that. Or telling me what needs to happen with my guns. Combined with the Americans who think it makes them more 'hip' to denigrate their own country and garner support of the people making blanket generalizations against the US.

    If that makes any sense.

I hold '200 year old grudges' because I have family members that died fighting for independence. Homes burned, etc. My moms side has kept a lot of documents and all the genealogy stuff. So it is something I get defensive about when I see English people posting on the internet calls for gun bans and confiscations.

The most imperialistic nation in history? They passed it all off to the US, and we became the "first world", THE global hegemon, and we still are, though slipping.

Sure, blanker generalizations suck. I don't see what that has to do with making them about britan. So war is hell, the colonies decided to start a war, they actually pushed really hard for it and started massive shit about stupid fuckin' things, in fact. Shit happens. If I was here at the time, I would sort of be forced to side strongly against the british, but that's fucking over and gone and done, it's as far gone as thutmose II, it's just got nothing to do with anyone who's alive today. I mean, if you want to talk about the revolutionary war, let's talk about one of the big things: the battle of lexington and concord. They chased the poor disciplined fuckers, who had been sent to fight by their king, for their king's rightful territory, in the back along like a thirteen mile march -- this was the first fucking day of the war, in fact, it wasen't even lunch time yet, I think. They killed like SEVEN HUNDRED, as they had no choice but to march on. The colonists had like three casualties, and one death, or some crazy shit like that. Who wouldn't burn some shit after that?

I know you can rationalize that all away.... so can I. But that doesn't change the fact that it's got NOTHING to do with ANYTHING today. This country is totally different, that country is totally different, the people are totally different, NOBODY from that time has been alive for well over a hundred years. So what the fuck are you on about?

You where not alive when it happened. That applies to both the good and the bad. They simply do NOT affect you, or balbus, or anybody here.

It has nothing to do with being hip, it's about moving forwards as a country, and as a species. I'm not saying ban guns now, but I'm saying, your emotion and opinions don't generally do your cause any service.

So, let's do this shit: anyone who wants can have a gun, and they're impressed into the military at the time of purchase. Those who are discovered to have a gun and not be active guard-type members, are given a month to register, and if they don't, the gun is impounded, if they have not sold it. If they do not legally transfer it, get an exemption, or join, they are AWOL / deserting.

That's the modern equivilent of how the revolution was. So, alex jones can suck a fat dick, when he screams (like a little girl) about how 1776 will happen again, or whatever.... sure, and if it does, see how it goes for him....

It's principle, what I'm 'on about'.. It is the choice of none of us to dissolve one of the fundamental rights of this country. I am not in the military or registered in a militia, and don't intend to because I don't believe in half of the stuff the gov't uses those forces for. But I could be on the beach 5 min from now ready to greet whoever may be coming ashore. Now I also realize we have a coast guard and navy, but I am talking about principle here.

I would do that if I were ever needed, the same way if someone comes into a store shooting I can pull out a gun and end their fun. Or I see a woman getting raped behind a building, I can pull out a gun and end his fun. I'm a protector by nature. It doesn't matter if it's a lost dog, another person, or my country.

On a lighter note, I just picked up some of these 22 round Glock magazines. Can't wait to try them out at the range.

Yeah, I think you might be right about that.
I think it's impracticable for the U.S to keep it's nose out of world affairs, though.
    No man is an Island.
It always seems to need to be somewhere to 'protect America' - even if that happens to be on the other side of the world.
That's what it needs to stop doing, imho.
Like I said, the U.S doesn't seem to like being dictated to, but it likes dictating.
I'm sure they would say: As a super power we have a global respon...yeah you know the speech.

If I had my way I'd say: Be fully involved in the world (on equal terms) or don't have anything to do with it - not the best of both worlds.
If you totally cut yourself off (diplomatically) I wouldn't let you trade with anybody apart from Canada - see how you like those apples.

I think those apples would taste good. We have every resource available to us here, and it would make us alter our patterns of waste and consumption. Also it would slow down the out of control population growth resulting from the constant influx of immigrants.
