The closest thing to a Santa is the Federal government, and it can barely afford to give you what it already does.

Bal and Odon sure do paint a different picture on the forums huh? Makes me wonder.

I still can't believe they just handed over their pistols.

Go work at the Pentagon, or join the military. Otherwise buy what you can afford.

    Odon is more reasonable.

So where is the English anti-gun camp today? Pretty quiet in this thread..

    'Odon, what say you?'

I say: I think I feel a little embarrassed to be from this Island right now.

Where on earth did you drag that up? - It's about 10 years out of date.
The newspaper headlines seem to be taken from the Daily Mail (a well known purveyor of blowing things out of all proportion, and pandering to a certain demographic)...so I can't take that seriously.
Why should I take seriously - now - articles that are a decade old?

Also, one of the contributors was Mike Yardley, who also wrote one of the articles featured in the video - coincidence?

    http://www.positiveshooting.com/AboutMain.html

He seems to still own lots of guns and can shoot them on a regular basis.

I don't feel sorry for people losing the 'right'/'liberty' to chase after foxes, and then let their dogs rip the fox apart.
That's one 'tradition' that should remain in the past.
Those 'Middle Englanders' would probably like racial segregation, too.

I think I know where the reporters sympathies are

    [IMG][IMG]

It is true, gun crime is an issue in certain parts of the UK.
She should have spoken to people who live in those areas, and asked if they felt the need to have a gun - I think the overwhelming response would be 'no'.
But she wasn't there to be fair or get a general sense of our culture etc, was she?
She decided to focus on hysterical Daily Mail readers, and hard peddle her own agenda.

I did like when she meant to say 'bobbies' but said something that resembled 'barbies'.
I don't know anybody that calls the police 'bobbies' - lol.
It was also funny when she said something like 'spending your tax dollars' - we don't use dollars - lol.

Overall, it was a complete joke, but made me laugh because it was so bloody terrible.

Btw, I feel perfectly safe :)

    Siq
    I wouldn't either. Thanks.

Did I mention or suggest a corporation? And which corporations are being given "a tank, some stinger missiles, an M-60, some land mines, and a couple of drones"?

Well, regardless if it was slanted or not, there are a lot of people upset about it. But I think the fact that it took them banning hunting (rather than seizing handguns) to get that amount of protest outright pathetic. I'm glad my family left that place to come here a long time ago. We won't give up our guns - for any reason.

It wasn't just slanted it was down right propaganda.

    Upset about what?
The majority were not protesting/upset about guns it was about foxhunting.
Obviously that woman is going to pick the people who happen to share her opinions.

Exactly, which makes me think even further that the English are weak pushovers.

What do you mean "me me me me"?

Are you insinuating we are selfish for not wanting to join the morons across the world who are agreeing with this ridiculous treaty?

The majority are not bothered about owning a gun.

I'm saying that everything always goes back to the U.S, and what you guys think: 'We won't give up our guns - for any reason.' AND - what has that got to do with the video you posted, and my response? I know most gun owners in the U.S won't give up their guns - for any reason. No need to remind the world every three minutes. Jeez. ;)

The whole World is watching the USA on this issue. Leaving aside the crazies who've killed your children in your schools, the list of mistaken and accidental killings involving guns in America is staggering. What is your current daily death toll of innoscent civilians in the 'land of the free'? Free to persue a ridiculous Right to kill-thats what Guns are for but the gun lobby equate it with'freedom'??

Also I thought that this was a Hippy site, you know;love, peace a better world for our kids. You got serious cause to worry if some of the Authors of the above posts have the 'Right' to bare Arms ! Grow up America !

They don't need the title to the tank, they have the title to congress.

That's like asking if somebody owns the water heater in the basement of their house.

Tip O'Neill once said that "All politics is local". How wrong he was, it would appear that today, "All politics has become international".

I don't have a basement or a water heater so you might try to be a little more explicit if you're trying to make a point.
