The majority of the "poseur" are real stupid musicians but some like Jet or the Darkness are in the great stupid rock mode(like the stooges or the damned or the sex pistols)...or others like Morisson are poetic poseur....

but i found a stupid band called Creed with the best stupid poseur singer in the whole world

I agree most of those bands are lacking, and Kelly Os. is a disgrace to the music scene.

I don't see how you could put Taking Back Sunday on the same list as Nickelback and Kid Rock, though. That's straight up offensive.

What i mean is - is it such a bad thing to be mainstream? If the music is enjoyable then i like it.... if not then i don't

Yep. They're actually one of the few bands I listen to for a change when I'm bored or need to do something like clean the house or bake things... it's not like... music I indulge... I leave that to people like Albert Collins, Guitar Slim, Lightnin' Hopkins, BB King, Muddy Waters, Freddie King, Albert King, Frankie Lee Sims, Lightning Slim, Robert Cray, Howling Wolf, Hubert Sumlin, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughan, Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, John Lee Hooker, Otis Redding, Little Milton, Joe Turner, Jimmy Reed, T-Bone Walker, Little Joe Blue, etc. etc.....

Hey... If I was going to listen to modern country stuff, better the dixie chicks than toby keith... lmfao. :p :D I'd take Hank Williams or Johnny Cash, anyday though. :)

Come now Lucifer, this thread is way off base. The real list of POSERS:

    1. Bob Dylan- How dare a folk musician play electric music.
    2. Eric Clapton- He had something with Cream, then sold out to make adult contemp. booty music.
    3. Johnny Cash-Playing Nine Inch Nails?
    4. Grateful Dead- Touch of Grey on MTV. Counterculture my ass...
    5. Modest Mouse- Indie band getting play on MTV. For shame.
    6. U2-playing with Apple. Yeah, Bono, you are a badass.
    7. Trey Anastasio- He totally broke Phish. Hell of an ego. Trey you suXXor.
    8. Dave Matthews Band- Fratboy band.
    9. Allman Bros. - Good god Greg...boning Cher?
    10. Led Zeppelin- White boys playing "black" music. No intergration here.
    11. Miles Davis- Promising trumpet player...ruined jazz.
    12. John Coltrane- Promising sax player...ruined jazz
    13. John McLaughlin- You are so UNindian.
    14. Paco De Lucia- You cannot modernize flamenco. BITCH.
    15. Kaki King- Women can't play guitar for real.
    16. Gov't Mule- Come on! Allman Bros. ripoff.
    17. Ratdog- Riding Jerry's flames again Bobby?
    18. Beatles- Glorified boyband
    19. Jimi Hendrix- What's with Axis: Bold as Love? Love songs sir? Stick to Purple Haze.
    20. Pink Floyd- Syd wannabes.

Noooooooow...this should all be taken with a grain of salt, tongue firmly in cheek. The deal is every single one of these bands is modern mainstream. Good music is good music. I heard a story of a Hassidic jew who moved into a friends aparment in New York and did nothing but watch MTV and VH1 all day. He had no prior musical knowledge (aside from Jewish folk songs) and judged everything with an empty cup. Not every song by a particular band, or all the songs by a particular band were deemed gospel. It was just a one by one type of basis. If it was good he liked it. There is something to be said for connecting with an audience. That's really what musicianship is all about. If it's a 1-4-5 progression in C maj. or a badass diminished chord movemnet based an an ancient Frend Mengovianian principle that relies completely on The Lydian mode....it doesn't matter. There is definately somethig to be said for breaking new ground, but if it doesn't connect than it is shit. Plain and simple. Concluding with the wise words of one Mr. George Clinton:
Who says a jazz band, can't play dance music?
Who says a rock band can't play funk music?
Who says a funk band can't play rock music?
We're gonna play funk so loud, it's going to rock around, you're going to get up and dance!@
