I've been thinking about this...it doesn't seem true to me, but maybe I'm still missing something...seems like, if not for grace, we'd all be dead...

 

If a billionaire keeps his money in a bank how would you know he was a billionaire? There are no idle thoughts. If you are feeling butt hurt it is not because you are sharing love. Giving and receiving are the same immediate truth. We feel love when we are loving, we feel disappointment when we are critical.

The thought comes first.

 

I'm not sure if this thread is the right place for a spiritual discussion ... but maybe it is. So I'll continue...

I'm thinking I might be confusing feeling with action. For example, there are times when I'm thinking/feeling in a very loving way...and also acting in a loving way, but not receiving loving actions back. I think you're saying that the thoughts/feelings are what we receive for the measure given. But that doesn't necessarily result in receiving loving actions. Or am I missing something here too?

 

Consider love to be without condition. The term loving actions implies a conditional judgment. Actions arise from our state of being, we are being first.

 

I put flax seed on many things.

 

I just farted, my dog has left the seat beside me. I smell pretty badly.

 

It seems to me that the rules are changing - for me. I used to receive much more loving actions when my love was a lot more conditional than it is now - unless I'm deluding myself about that. If actions arise from my state of being, I should have been treated much worse in the past than I am now. It looks to me like the universe is at this moment on a special project to teach me unconditional love, and because of this special condition of my life at this time, now my unloving or conditional-loving thoughts take on more significance than they have in the past.

But again, maybe I'm not examining my experience objectively...maybe I need to think about this some more.

 

This gives rise to the philosophical and ethical question: Should we suppress our farts?

 

This in turn leads to the philosophical question: From whence to farts arise? Do they arise from wrong thinking/unhealthy state of being?

If so, maybe we could alleviate flatulence with prefrontal lobotomies.

you shouldn't do it, but it's dark and no one can say a word. It's really quite funny watching the teenage lovers in front you, just for a moment cut out the smooching and realize that each one of them are not perfect, blaming the stench on one and other

I force my farts up through my spinal cord and into my brain for storage until I can get to a "safe farting" zone. Despite this mental handicap, I try to keep the romance alive, but jeezus - there's just so much shit a guy can take sometimes, ya know?
