I don't know how they do it, but at my school people manage to fit the word "fag" into every sentence. No exaggeration There are some people who throw in a gay insult with EVERY sentence.
I think people just don't think it through, there are people on here that talk to me then will through the word gay around and everyone knows that i'm gay on here S
The only time I use "gay" as an insult is when I'm obviously coating it with sarcasm to show its stupidity.
I heard 2 girls say it on the bus the other day, i'm sure i'm going to hear it every where after this thread! S
Yep, it's everywhere... complaining about it is like trying to stop a waterfall with a bucket. It's just one of those things, you can't hold back the evolution of a language...
Hey, well i unfortunetly use this word too, to describe things i am irritated at. I am very straight and not interested in men. I have recently become more open to gay people. I do not actually have any gay friends so i have never had the pressure to not use the word. All of my friends use it and i do as well. I am not advocating that it is right, but the word has been transformed into something very different than its original meaning of something "happy" or "wonderful" which is why i guess you all use it to describe your sexual orientation. lol Anyways im not trying to offend anyone but i just wanted to point out that the word has taken on many meanings like: You are gay, Or i am feeling so gay (in the happy sense) or that is gay (in the derrogatory sense). I guess i would really feel bad if i used it in the derrogatory sense in front of someone i didnt know was gay. Well i guess we all have a long way to go with social, cultural and ethnic slurs. Well im out guys laters
I'm gay and it doesnt bother me at all - in fact I say it sometimes myself (jokingly almost). Don't let it bother you even though its very silly to use the word "gay" as a derogatory term. People dont think about it when they say it.
hey, well im not sure what i am but i didnt kno it was like that but i do now i will quickly erase that word as an insult. I believe that with understanding in inter-communities there will be greater peace
I use that a lot because its funny and random. When I use it my intention isn't to insult homosexuals and I doubt anyone else is doing it for that purpose either.
I don't use the word "gay" so much, but the word "fag" and "dyke". I blame it on Burroughs... I'm by no means homophobic, quite the contrary, and I'm probably slightly bi-curious as well, although the situation/opportunity has never arose. I hate camp guys as well, so that's usually a turn-off for me.
Nah what irritates me is people who dont accept that language changes - incase it escaped your notice - around about the 1950's and up until about the early 1970's the word had meant "happy" - nowadays the word means "lame" as in "crap". The term did once mean "homosexual" but only for a brief moment in history! between about 1975 and 1999 - if you didnt know that then this thread is really too gay for me to appear in
when people use the term gay to mean lame? It doesnt annoy me, but thats cuz I'm not gay, I just thought I would ask if like when people say oh i'm not watching that film its totally gay. Or if they say ice skating is gay, dood. I think its funny but do gays think its funny?
I don't think it's funny, but i'm not offended by it by any means. i say "that's gay", fag, queer, etc. in my everyday speech. Being politically correct is gay.
How is it funny? It's so overused these days that it means nothing. That's why I'm not offended by it.
Sometimes my friends and I use the word "ghey" which is pronounced the same as "gay" to deem something as lame. Being a gay male myself, I can understand how one might find it offensive. Often times, we will pronounce it "guh-hey" so as not to be confused, or we will say G-H-E-Y. It's just funny.
Yeah I like the word GHEY too, but still don't really use it. Something great is watching people who know you're gay squirm when they say "Thats gay," right in front of you. Hah, it doesn't bother me but it's still funny  GUH-HEY! Haha It sounds like you have good friends
