That Awkward Moment Movie Blurb by Shale January 31, 2014 This is awkward. I usually really like rom-coms, but this one was not all that exciting to me. Only 22% of the aggregate critics on Rottentomatoes liked it and 62% of audiences did. I won't trash the movie but somehow it did not move me that much. Altho these type movies are considered "chick flicks" this one is actually a bromance about three friends who, unfortunately follow each others juvenile advice when dealing with relationships. The main character is Jason (Zac Efron) who enjoys being single and having sleepovers with casual friends. (Been there-done that). As the movie opens one of these girls is breaking up with him and he had no idea that they were a couple. (Cute!). The other two buds in this bromance are Jason's co-worker in the book cover design department, Daniel (Miles Teller) and his college bud Mikey (Michael B. Jordan). Daniel, Mikey & Jason - BFF Seems Mikey, a married doctor just got the news that his lawyer wife Vera (Jessica Lucas) has been having an affair and wants a divorce. While consoling him all the guys agree that they are free of commitment and will just enjoy life with casual sex and not fall into those embarrassing moments when the girls start latching onto them. They hit the pickup bars and do their thing. Daniel has this long-time female friend Chelsea (Mackenzie Davis) that acts as his wingman, helping him pick up girls. Jason sees this really nice-looking girl at the bar, Ellie (Imogen Poots) who gives him a glance and he goes over and manages to woo her with lines that mesh so well with hers. After spending the night with her, he sees things in her apartment (condoms, cash, wardrobe) that makes him think she is a hooker, so he sneaks out. Of course they run into each other again, an embarrassing moment but eventually they start seeing each other some more. A lot more, which violates the oath of non-committment he made with his buds. Ellie & Jason - A Couple? Mikey, who is crashing with Jason secretly tries to get back together with Vera against his pals advice. And, best friends Chelsea and Daniel finally end up in bed together for a fling but can they still be friends? You can see that this non-commitment alliance is falling apart because young ppl just seem to do that. Oh, and here is a pic of Mikey in Jason's apartment after a shower, just 'cause it is a chick flick and I thot you might want to see it. Mikey in a Towel Actually, that scene is discussing something that happened to Mikey's penis, as so much of the dialogue is risqué. The movie is R-rated and has a few embarrassingly juvenile scenes that probably got that rating. One was the scene in the bathroom, while Jason and Daniel are taking a leak after sex and talking to each other on cells. Always a problem trying to aim a stream from an erection, but they came up with a solution. Planking the toilet. Jason "Planking" on Toilet So, it wasn't a complete waste, just coulda been better I suppose. There were some funny moments and Miles Teller had some of the best lines & delivery.
Wow. That pic of the actor dude on the toilet seat just might have ruined his chances of ever being in another legit (not porn) film - or he could wind up a superstar. Hollywood is weird. I guess it's all about the money? QP
Actually, there are so many fake nude/porn pix of Zac Efron out on the Web that it really isn't too shocking to see this much of him nude. This might put that scene in perspective: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4-0DR1aGdc
LOL. I've just put the DVD on hold (at my public library). Looks like I might have to wait a month or two: Zac is a popular guy. QP
