Ah crap, you won't get that fancy stuff here! We have ugly ash gray plates and missmatched silver ware!

When I was growing up we would all cram into my grandmothers single wide trailer in the " old timers lot".... She had 2 bedrooms one for her and one for her hundreds of dolls! Every where was ceramic figurines on shelves, old dolls under glass displays, a candy dish with ribbon candy so old it was all stuck together from the humidity! The TV I think only played westerns! But we did it, we sat with our plates on our laps

we had melomac (a kind of early heat resistant plastic plates were made out of) plates, cause when mom threw a fit she threw a plate.
they came in sets of four of everything in four different colors for each subset. only one was gray, the others, one was a kind of green and one was a kind of pinkishpurple.
forget what the fourth one was. but generally everything was missassorted. i've never bought whole sets either, just whatever i needed at the time that was at the 99cents, or whatever cheap place was handy and local.

you do know? that the first hundred years of thanksgiving, it commemorated the genocide of the people who had saved the pilgirms from starvation.

so i don't really celibrate it except just for the food. as being more generically one of those fall harvest celibrations that are as much about the food seasonal at that time of year as anything.

i believe in the goodness of strangeness, but not that the doctrine of discovery was ever the will of any god.

they get brittle eventually, especially if they're left over the pilot light to keep them warm, or if they've been subjected to cooking heat, or maybe just from aging.
didn't have micro waves yet the last time i had any, so i don't know but i would imagine long enough repeated use in one would do that too.

Yeah, that's fine for a mid-afternoon snack between lunch and tea.

Not quite matey, I was taught, 15 minutes per pound, yeah, but an initial 15 minutes too, and then it will need to be basted at faily frequent intervals too.

Well, that's my Xmas lunch sorted, but what are the rest of you going to have ??? ;)
