never one for the fuutboll, always about the foodz. last few years my wife was alive we had honey ham instead of turkey, but always with greenbeans and mash, with lots of gravey. gravey = (campel's) cream of mushroom+kinchen boquet (which this gravy is pretty much the only thing i can remember using it for). also yams glazed with brown sugar and butter. and pumpkin pie (with lots of sffft can cream stuff on top. that was mom. later when it was just me or me and wifie, we used that stuff that come in a tub, i forget what it was called) for desert. also a bread "stuffing", made from real dried bread crumbs from left over bread, not those suffing kit things, with onion and celery chopped into it. water to soften them and then baked most of the water back out, then eaten with the gravy on top.

turkey ravioli sounds good, sounds like something i would find at trader joe's, which i'll look for next time i make it to one.

new to me this year is pumpkin tea, very good.

oh also, the seeds from the pumpkins for halloween, we would salt and bake them. now you can get those already shelled, salted or unsalted at trader joe's too.

me by myself with not fridge, no pumpkin pie this year. may go to denney's or some other resteraunt for some though, if i remember to.
wish they had some kind of single slice at the store. pumpkin cheesecake is also good, also at tj's. (not sure they have tj's outside of cali and nevada,
kind of hippie gormet but no more expensive then a regular store, even cheaper for some things)

also wish i could get turkey meat that wasn't that reconstituted loaf thing, or ground turkeyburger. i mean without having to buy a whole bird which would be way too much for just me.
turkeyburger is good, just not the same texture as baked whole turkey.

jellied cranberry canned, on sammich with that sweet clotted cream stuff i still can't remember what its called. ah there we are, whipped cream. the canned sffft stuff was/is called readywhip, though there's probably other brands, now if i could just recall what they call the whiped cream stuff that comes in the tubbs instead of the sffft can. you get a lot more cheaper in the tubbs then in the pressure cans)

i like the seeds out of the pumpkins better than the ones you can buy already done-- yes nice for the rest of the year but i like the tradition of baking the seeds with salt

cool whip-- which is best on pumpkin pie--- its just got a whole different mouth feel than the kind in the can...... my son who won't eat a vegetable or fruit is in charge of making the cranberry sauce....... we put either orange juice instead of water or use mandarin oranges (canned) with it so its got an orangey flavor

Yes its a love it or hate it kind of thing....but using half white half brown sugar and orange juice is really good, just follow the rest of the instructions on the bag of cranberries

I love the cranberry sauce and stuffing. Gravy is great also :)

Being only two people, I think a roast chicken is more than enough. So I am going to be thankful for having that.

If I was near to you @themnax I'd be sure to get you over for the feast.

maybe three of us would be enough for a small turkey.
yes, i'm thankful for what i have too.
a place, a computer, a microwave, four walls and a heat pump.
shelves full of books, and even a very small train.

why on earth would they need or want to add cornstarch and coloring?
the ones at tj's come in a transparent and somewhat more generous bag.

its plenty easy enough to process your own when you have a pumpkin.
just spread them out on a flat oven sheet with salt, and bake them until the goopy stuff is all dried up.

not sure about the branding on this one, looks like they're marketing it for the candy isle.

Right I went down to the beauty parlour this morning and got a nice back massage from a lovely lady masseur. After I left there, I crossed the road into a shop immediately opposite (the pie shop) and bought myself a 7" Xmas pie - (Turkey, stuffing, veg and gravy all wrapped in short-crust pastry case). That's my lunch sorted and have also sorted out my tea too by buying a Cherry pie (Candy darlin' - are you seeing this ??? knowing you have a penchant for Cherry pies)

If you don't want a lot of sugar then real whipped cream is the best option.

Yeah gravy is essential, but nobody wants some cheap porcelain cat gravy dispenser sitting on the Thanksgiving Day table alongside the Wedgwood China and Waterford Crystal Glassware

i didn't grow up with fancy dishes to impress anybody, just functional ones to eat off of all the time.
gravy? just set the sauce pot one of those things to protect the table and ladle or pour it out of it directly.

i mean there were just ever three of us, right, and the stove was like two steps away from the table.

anyone worth trying to impress wouldn't object to not being, and anyone who would wouldn't be,
not as far as i, or anyone i've ever lived with or was closely related to was ever concerned.

there are protocolls of consideration, but trying to impress anyone isn't one of them.
