The United States endorsed slavery at its inception. Every one of the thirteen original states had some form of slavery. It wasn't until 1780 that Pennsylvania pasted the Gradual Abolition Act, the first state to speak out against slavery, and it wasn't until 1847 that all slaves were freed there.

Free enterprise has existed ever since mankind started trading with each other.

The U.S. isn't doing very well compared to other industrialized nations in regards to poverty.
    The Philippines abolished slavery in 1574, Lithuania in 1588, Japan 1590, England 1772, Portugal 1773, Madeira 1777, Bukovina 1783, New South Wales 1786, Saint-Domingue 1793, France 1794, Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth 1794, Haiti 1804, Serbia 1813, Warsaw 1807, Prussia 1807, Spain 1811, Netherlands 1814, Estonia 1816, Courland 1817, Livonia 1819, Chile 1823, Mexico 1824, Central America 1824, Uruguay 1830, Bolivia 1831, Greece 1832, United Kingdom 1834, Serbia 1835, Paraguay 1842,Wallachia Saint Barthélemy 1847, Danish West Indies 1848, Taiping Heavenly Kingdom 1851, New Granada 1851, Ecuador 1851, Hawaii 1852, Argentina 1853, Peru 1854, Venezuela 1854, Moldavia 1855, Wallachia 1856, United States 1865.

The industrial revolution began in Great Britain. Europe was second. The U.S. didn't have much impact until later.

    So much for that.
Your characterization of "leftist" leads much to be desired. Like we never read a history book.

Why do you think Trump is racist (or a "racist fuck" in your parlance)?

No, the United States did not"endorse" slavery. It accepted it as a necessary compromise in the long struggle for freedom. It was a highly divisive issue, one the Founders of the US of A wisely deferred, believing it was organically on the way out (which it might well have been had it not been for the invention of the cotton gin).

I don’t think anyone is saying there anything wrong with being white or male or straight. What is not ok is is the majority of white males discriminating against other races, women and nationalities. If the majority of white males didn’t embrace racism and sexism, DT would not be President and this country would be doing its level best to create a nation of equality. But that’s not reality. If white males want to be regarded more positively we need to get off the pot and reject Messages of hate and discrimination including the absurdities coming from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave in DC.

I’m glad my freedom was not seen as a “necessary compromise “.

Same here. I also recognize that some form of slavery has been endemic throughout history. What is truly exceptional was the movements to end it that have largely- but not entirely- prevailed in this world.

Slavery in the U.S. began in Charles Town in 1670.
In New England the Puritans had slaves in 1641.
New Amsterdam (New York) had slaves in 1625.
The French brought slaves to the Illinois area in 1718.
Colonial Louisiana has slaves beginning in 1699.
The Spanish had slaves in Florida in 1513.

    ...and so on.

You want to nit pick words?
Some areas of the U.S. endorsed it, others tolerated it. None outlawed it.

Joseph Percoco, executive deputy secretary, left, stands with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Percoco had been the Democratic governor's closest aide and friend for decades and ran Cuomo's re-election campaign in 2014. But Percoco was sentenced to six years in prison last year after a jury found him guilty of accepting more than $300,000 from companies with dealings before the state.

Everyone should get the heck out of high tax corrupt ass NY whether your left or right or love or hate or don't even care about Trump.

Andrew Cuomo is the very biggest sack of shit in all of the vast cesspool that is American politics.

It is such an outrage that the nation that showed the world that government of the people, by the people, and for the people could exist in this world simply does not meet your exalted standards.

Sorry Meli, I missed this paragraph when I wrote post #94. Seems like you added/edited this part after I hit the reply button to concoct my post.

I'm not saying that the brutalities and injustices of America's past should be forbidden from discussion. They need to be talked about so we can understand that our country's leadership isn't always right. I may love my country but I'm not a jingoist. Speaking of the bad parts allows us to realize that we cannot always trust the government's decisions. Yet at the same time it is dishonest and morally destructive to take all the wrongdoings of the country, and claim that is the entirety of what this nation (or any nation for that matter) was built on.

Joe Biden creates the 1994 crime bill and mass incarceration holocaust that was designed to target minorities.

Trump the only president that scaled it back since , In December 2018, President Donald J. Trump signed into law the First Step Act.

Biden is the good guy Trump is the racist. That makes sense.

    Here here!

I think there is so much wrong with the premises of this thread, but I'm not really inclined to tackle it. But for instance, I believe England was the first nation to outlaw slavery, which it did in the 19th century. I also believe the Spanish- not my filippino ancestors, abolished slavery in the archipalego.

    re-read the thread.

what distinguishes him as a "racist fuck", rather than a simple racist, is a combination of being a moronic asshole, compounded with the fact that he is a president elected and representative of the minority, as well a stain in American history, and undeserving of the title or office of "president" of the United States.

You provide no coherent rationale for your mindless, foul-mouthed diatribes. And no, the original comment merely said,

"Thank you for moving to Florida! We don't fucking want you here anyways you racist fuck."

so re-reading it was not at all helpful.

I cannot help you if you are illiterate. A title is not a thread.

  19. Do you have a need to put people into silos that YOU get to label? Tsk tsk

If you recall I preferred Bernie. I was for anyone who wasn't political dynasty or otherwise establishment. There were only 2 to choose from. Then there was only 1. I suppose you've never made a hold-your-nose vote. However, I'm not insulted by this nor am I shy about voting for Trump. He was the only choice because there is no way I would pull for the Clintons.

I voted for Obama as well. And I was disappointed by him. Not shocking since all of the other presidents I have been aware of personally have been disappointments.

What I am not is a party cheerleader. That just seems like such a brainwashed role to play.

If one cannot see the rationale for calling trump a racist fuck---one is blind, willfully ignorant or is a member in good standing of THE TRUMP CULT. Secondly, to be foul mouthed is not something to be shy about when dealing with those for whom kindness is not warranted.
