You know what's kinda funny? There's more than 4 Americans in this thread so statistically one of them believes that the sun revolves around the earth. Lol.
The assumptions usually seem to be the private sector runs things more efficiently, at a lower cost, will pay workers less, more lax on safety. Of course its not as simple as that. Every corporation has different departments that often compete against each other. Management and staff turnover usually higher, and usually a short term focus If you dig deep, think you'll find most of the costs of healthcare in the US are attributed to outpatient services. Maxing out your 'free' health benefits each year isnt free market, its due to an artificial set of rules. Which makes private sector less efficient than a government one Basic healthcare and outpatient services are better run by the government
Why has the right become such a disappointment I mean look at them, look at their posts on the forum, they don’t have any rational arguments so seem to spend their days sniping and sneering or just regurgitating the last talking point from the last Fox news/alt-right rant they read. They just come across as angry, petty, bitter and mean spirited, lacking in vision, hope or answers but above all lacking in self-awareness as to their own value and worth. I’m not saying all right wingers have become so pathetic but the ones that seem willing to actually admit they still are right wingers and post here definitely seem to fit that bill. I’ve always thought such people had an entertainment value maybe in the sense of one of those rickety Victorian freak shows, but as with one of those it is also tinged with sadness and sympathy for the poor creatures trapped within. But these days that seems to be all we get. But have they any worth for the future, I think not, the free market/neoliberal economics so many once seemed to present as a panacea for all ills seems tarnished, clueless and corrupt, more a fountain of ills rather than benefits. Their stance on climate change in the light of so much evidence that looked increasingly stupid now looks dangerous and suicidally short-sighted. As for their support for the status que such as the seeming belief that there are no real social problems around race and inequality and that any talk of these are just ‘liberal’ politically correct myths (and an attack on white people) well that type of thinking just comes across as delusionally self-serving and out of date. These right wingers just seem to believe in the one trick – the big lie – they just seem to repeat the same flawed arguments or even outright lies over and over in the hope that sooner or later the rubbish premise or lie will be taken for granted or ignored and so not be critically questioned. Many may even know they are doing it – I mean that’s why when their argument fails in one thread they wait awhile then repeat it in another, they know full well it still won’t stand up to scrutiny any more that it did the first, second or hundredth time before, but that the big lie it’s just a matter of pushing the same false claims and cracked ideas. As I say it’s so disappointing, so come on you right wingers can you at least try and up your game because you are becoming something of a joke.
Slavery So what is the right’s argument? Because it seems to be that because it happened that’s fine, that slavery was fine and although it isn’t fine now if it happened in the past it must have been fine then, so we should just forget it and be in favour of statues that celibate slavers and slavery?
Healthcare So let’s get this right - someone on the right is defending the US healthcare system by saying he knows that it is going to try and scam him. What kind of endorsement is that? The World Health Organization, OECD and a number of studies have all shown that the US system ranks poorly against comparable wealthy societies such as those in Europe Canada and Australia. And many economist think the US system has an adverse effect on the countrys overall economy. Thing is that there are many ways to deliver a nations healthcare and the US’s is not one of the best. Why would anyone want to carry on with such an outdated and ineffectual system let alone actively support it?
Oh Thank you You make my point about todays right wingers for me. They don’t have any rational arguments so seem to spend their days sniping and sneering or just regurgitating the last talking point from the last Fox news/alt-right rant they read. They just come across as angry, petty, bitter and mean spirited, lacking in vision, hope or answers but above all lacking in self-awareness as to their own value and worth.
My father is a WWII vet, he, and we, love his VA coverage. Not to mention Medicare which I and millions of others also love.
