Back to the original message of this thread. Whatever the future holds, whether Obama turns out to be a good, bad or just a figurehead president, thank God the Bush administration is done. We've endured eight long years of this crap and finally we can start putting it behind us. The reign of error is over. Bush was the worst president I've seen, and I lived through Nixon.

 

Exactly for me when anyone says thank god it's over I think of Bush. I think that's why millions of people braved the cold.

I don't put a lot of thought or faith into horoscopes or crystal balls or any of that prediction crap. But it has been said that Nostradamus has predited many things like the Nazis and the Black Plague, things that were terrible parts of history. He also predicted a downfall of a great empire. Maybe he was talking about Barack Obama's term in the Oval Office.

Well, Bush is out of office. What do we do now? I mean, a lot of what has happened in the counterculture in the last 8 years can in some way be linked to Bush. The war in Iraq will be over by 2011 or earlier. Gitmo is being shuttered, along with Bush's "death camps" in Europe. Afganistan will probably end sometime in the next 2 years. And there is no chance in the next 4 years that another conservative will bein the supreme court. So, what do we do now?

Your thread got hijacked early. I tried to start another one for those of us with hope. But it didn't catch on. So decided to try and respond to this one the way most of us feel right now.

It's more about hope than change. Hope more than the fear we've all felt for the last 8 years may bring huge changes.

 

Obama - No More Torture, Close Gitmo, review cases of men locked up for years without Habeas Corpus, fund stem cell research, open government records, move on helping Americans find jobs - and on and on. Thank you Obama - thank you America!!

 

Yeah a lot more in three days than Bush offered us in 8 years. And now the courts have shut down the sale of park lands in Utah to petroleum interests. I have a lot to be thankful for by this election.
