i text when i'm at home, but not to anyone else that may happen to be here at the time. usually just with employees, who are mostly high school kids so it would be especially inappropriate to call them bf/gf. although it does sometimes happen when we are each at our respective homes.
My house is a rancher style made of two houses built together side by side with a basement so its a long walk from one side to the other with yard all the way around it and soon to be a garage added on. I hate to admit it but as much as I tried to avoid the need of technology for survival, it's sometimes easier to phone or text and say "where the fuck are ya?" If he didn't have a habit of carrying it around with him nearly all the time maybe I coulda got him a GPS tracker for around his neck, hahaha. But seriously, one day I couldn't find him and I even went to look in the motorhome, turned out he was in the dogs runner in the back cleaning up dog shit, swear I looked there.
I tend to only text when I have no other options so for me to text someone in our home to find them, I simply would not bother. If someone texted me from inside the house I would probably ignore them. When home and not working from home, usually my cell is off, so I would probably not even get the message until I went out again. There is something to be said for face to face communication when it is possible in a world where we are constantly expected to be in touch electronically.
