Ex-Green party supporter who became a right-wing Anti-Semitic radical as a result of exposure to Q and other garbage on the internet. Certainly, what he told police about his motives suggests an anti-Pelosi mentality that is inconsistent with the Green Party. And the truly distrubing thing about the incident is the Retrumplican reaction to it. Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kri Lake used it as a laugh line, and her Retrumplcan audience thought it was hilarious. Same with Sicko Donald J., Jr. When I first heard about the incident, I asked myself how will the Retrumplicans spin this away? I soon got my answer. The new conspiracy story about the perp knowing Pelosi and showing up in his underwear, yuk yuk. If they could believe Pizzagate, they could believe that, too. Bothsidesism is a similar approach.
Really?. Socrates (if he existed) was talking about direct democracy, the kind where everybody voted on the issues, as opposed to our representative democracy--so his views on "democracy" might not apply to ours. We know Socrates views on government primarily through Plato's Republic. Plato was an elitist who was a big fan of the Spartan monarchy and who believed the world would be better off if philosophers like himself were kings and the commoners stuck to doing the grunt work they were cut out to do. There's a strong suspicion he put his own thoughts into Socrates' mouth. Modern technocratic representative democracies might be a compromise alternative. Anyhow, comparing the records of modern democracies and dictatorships, I think the democracies are much better in providing the greatest measure of happiness to the greatest number of people--although they're fragile and vulnerable to demagogues likeTrump and DeSantis, the weak person's idea of "Strong men". We may be about to find out the hard way that we never had it so good!
