ok, so i've seen people on here use the phrse before but, what the hell does "being made redundant" mean?

 

getting fired, booted, kicked out, given the pink slip or just generally being told to fuck off

 

i figured. but, the term just doesn't make sense. i think we call it "getting laid off" as in you are not fired, but your employer can no longer afford to employ you. so bye bye. here, people that get laid-off usually get some sort of severance package ($) and also unemployment assistance fo 6 mos. i think???

vig - yeah, being made redundant is getting laid off.. but most of the workers dont appear to get the same amount of support, which is why everyone hates the government, because they dont help them find new work, or offer support or anything like that. my sister is being made redundant in mid-july, because her company havent got any work after that date

 

Hello everyone just found this wonderful place, I have been growing my hair since Nov.07 and with no intervention it locked up first in the back and then it moved to the sides. Now i'd say im at 80% locked up and just waiting for the rest.

yep, my wife got laid off... she got 6 months unemployment and then 3 months EU (emergency unemployment)
