I'm filling in an aplication and this cropped up... ...how would you respond? (and - I don't know anything about you isn't funny )
PTell them about you only so far as it relates to the position you're applying for. I just applied for a job with an agency that helps assist families and the elderly to find assisted living and nursing homes so I told them about my volunteer work with the elderly, my interest in geriatrics, blah blah. They didn't really need to know anything about me past that. The prior work history is pretty self explanatory.
I don't think I can put it any more plainly. I was filling in an aplication form, and this question cropped up: Tell us about yourself and your work history to date I presume it is asking for a brief biog' and a brief summation of my work history. I'm asking: How would you respond? How would start off etc. From birth?
how long your penis is, sexual preference, fantasies, desires, religion, allergies, medications, herbs and supplements, the list goes on...
doj mcds amryres usps genix usarmy ibm belltelle at&t biss infinity upmc ups I know how to make hamburgers, kill people, pick up mail, install telephones, computers, kill people, install computers, wire phones, secure main events, play disc jockey, prevent kidnappings, ship your bongs.. Any questions?
Yeah, would you start off like this: Once upon a time in a galaxy far far away... Or: In my spare time... I just need a few sentences to get the ball rolling. Hit a blank.
I would start with your objective - what are you looking for? A specific type of job, a challenge, an advancement? Then you can make it more personal -why do you want that job, what interests and hobbies could help make you successful at the job?
Hello, hm, I think that is the place where you can distinguish yourself from the other applicants. I presume there is another field where you can fill in your CV, your skills etc? In that case I wouldn't talk about work history, but I would pick one or two topics from your past work life that show why you are the best fit for the job and why one should hire you. I guess this could also be something more private, for instance if you are an avid chess player and the job needs logic thinking and reasoning. But I could be totally wrong . Regards Gyro
Hello, that is what I thought, except of the what-are-you-looking-for part. And I wouldn't go too deep into details. Your counterpart has neither much time nor much fun reading applications . And you need something left that you can discussin the interview. Regards Gyro
I know I said... ...and In the thread header it said: '...and your work history to date'. It isn't actually for a job, it's for a training course: http://www.jbctraining.co.uk/ I quit work a few weeks ago. I just said that to Mr Migration as a joke This seems like some good advice: '... A specific type of job, a challenge, an advancement.' (Thanks, Meliai) I can waffle on for England, It's just the first sentence or two, though : /
What is the job you're applying for? Sell yourself for that particular job, mention good qualities, interests, hobbies that make you sound particularly suitable. And in the work history bit explain briefly what jobs you've had before, your responsibilities and achievements, again focus on the bits that make you sound good for what you're applying for. Good luck mattypoo!
Put yourself in their shoes and fill out what they want to hear/read. They just want to know if your a person who runs late, Party and drinks all the time, Hobbies etc. I would list that I was shat out of the womb and start from day 1 cause I could give a shit less. But all they want to know is if you have a good work ethic, Shows up, Don't call in with an excuse every Monday from a hang over. Just tell um what they want to hear and nothing more.
