If you like it, wear it. If someone doesn't like what they see, they don't have to look.

I think if someone is trying to replicate something it is just silly. Even hippie fashion has changed a lot since the 60's, just wear what you like I say, although I wasn't around in the 60's in this life time.

i wear some 80s style shit sometimes. and 90s

it's what's popular nowadays in some aspects. ray bans and neon colors.

why do old people dislike new trends ('kids these days, huh???!!!')

yet complain when a youngster instead replicates the past???

sounds like you're damned if you do

and sure as hell damned if you don't.

Yeah, that is part of why I dress in just "always in fashion" mens clothing. Button down shirt with normal patterns, khakis, a blazer or sweater, etc.

Not going to be accused of 'replicating' any style (since people have dressed like that since 1930) nor for being 'trendy' (it would be considered too conservative probably). It is comfortable, looks okay, and costs less than trendy stuff but utilizes better fabrics and such.

Trendy t-shirts may cost $30 but last a year. A nice button down shirt with a checkered pattern might cost the same but last 7 or 8 years. Same comparison between "pre-washed" jeans and good khakis/chinos.

the only problem i have with it is this: age brings wisdom through experience, the bands of the day were popular, so the apperal fit the time. i would like to see the youth or modern hippie give a clean cut apperance, pee clean for a job, earn a living like responsible individuals do, raise families, that being said....you have now diverted attention away from your apperance, but that doesnt mean you cant still have your stash, get a buzz. i would like to see a more responsible, discreet hippie of today. you would be fooling all the heat, all the anti hippie assholes everywhere and you could move thru life un-noticed. but as the youth of tomorrow i ask this of your generation: vote to legalize marijuana, and find me a way to beat a drug test.!!!!

I gotta be honest here, if you are worrying more about what others are wearing you arent really living. Our lives shouldnt be consumed by the way that others dress. Who cares how someone dresses? I dress "hippyish" and Im 22. I dress that way because I feel the most comfortable that way. And I like the clothes. And I guess if people are being annoyed by what I wear, well then that is their own dysfunction.... its not gonna faze me because this is ME. I know what I am and I believe in what I am. And I am not gonna change how I dress just to please other people. I have alot of clothes that my grandmother gave me, and I alter my clothes to fit my style... and I love all the VINTAGE clothes that are sold at the "hippy shop" I guess if that irks you, then sue me! :)

Although I know you should never judge a book by it's cover when I see today's interpretation of the hippie look I often find myself thinking."How would they cope with a good dose of pure LSD".

Try pruning roses, blackberries, raspberries and an assortment of other prickly stuff.

I just wear what I like. If it happens to look like the 60's style so be it.

    exactly^

if i see something on someone with my body type wearing something i think compliments them then i may try something like that out.. we dont go looking for clothing from the 60's but if it looks right then why the hell not? you say we have noting original and maybe not but we combine things from every time and every where! ex moccasins, leggings and a cute crop top.. we are just a "try this" generation :):)
