Teenage nude camps - yes or no?

Learn from naked indigenous tribes. Those, whor really go naked, even without loincloth, do so from baby to really old people, at least here in Brazil.
Many of them, who use a minimum loincloth, permit children and teenager (before being married) complete nudity.
They are all quite decent people and have their rules for sexuality. No savage fornications!
So it works. Why worry about it ourkind?

For anyone who thinks that kids aren't having sex at nudist camps, I'm here to straighten you out. Every summer my family attended one particular camp that claimed to have kids programs. The programs were lacking and we kids did what we wanted. . . and yes that included sex. The adults lectured anyone who would listen that a natural lifestyle didn't equal sex, but they knew better. Most of the parents were old hippies who looked the other way. The kids like me were hormone machines. As a girl, I had it easy. The boys had a harder time hiding an erection so they jerked off regularly to avoid any awkward situations. Yes we had sex. Many of my friends parents knew too but either looked the other way or somehow endorsed it. "Sleepovers" were tolerated. I think that adults forget what raging hormones can do to a kid.
That is why, as an adult, I shun nudist resorts. I find that they are hypocritical in their denial of sexual desire within their ranks.

 

Do they frown on sexual encounters?? -- I didnt know that.... I dont see why really...

I think resorts are in some way perpetrating the idea that there is a natural culture they can be a part of, when they are only just a part of it every now and then...

I think it really takes growing up that way, sharing the wisdom of the different things that come up in that lifestyle, to just completely trust nature to shield you from everything, without putting in the effort yourself.

We live in a culture of duality(and I'm talking about industrialized cultures) and you can't just pretend though you want to cultivate a sense that nudity is natural, you can't pretend that the situations in your predominant culture related to nudity(or any other counter-cultural tradition) do not exist.

I have seen in other counter cultural movements how the children receive little guidance and are basically neglected so the parents can rediscover what they feel they missed out on...and this is not to say all nudists are like this, but often when they join in with a counter cultural group there is just not enough that can be prepared for with a part-time "enrollment" in the related activities.

I agree with your judgement of some certain nudist / naturist communes being hypocritical, but I guess in the majority of nudist places there is not such an idea of nudists as off-sexual beings. No one will think that a couple goes to holidays for three weeks and switch off all sexual desire in the moment they pass the camp’s gate ;-)

I think that teenage kids try out sexual things if they are fenced together and are somehow out of the influence of adults is a common and just natural thing that is not necessarily connected to their nudity. Those things go on at non-nudist camps as well. Maybe common nudity makes it easier, but certainly is not the root. As far as my own experiences tell, those sexual activities usually do cover only “soft” things as caressing, fumbling, petting, masturbation etc. but not coition. But there may be varieties, of course.

Thank you for some of your comments. I would be banned if I admitted to what this young girl at the time truly experienced not only at such resorts but in my home life as well. I'm a product of a very liberal upbringing. My parents believed in no censorship to all that life brought my way.
Despite being raised around family nudity, for girls like me, there is a really awkward period around ages 12 to 13 where we are hyper-conscious of our own bodies. The resorts that cater to teens and families fail to understand that. Boys would fight uncontrolled erections as well. So yes, sex helped us through those awkward moments and it also served as a way of rebellious gotcha to many of the kids parents.

 

Agreed Nisei_girl, you make some good points. One thing that puts me off going to nudist resorts is the slightly uptight attitude of some nudists to sex and arousal. I think teens are going to explore sex and sexuality, whether they are nude or clothed, so why should they be put off enjoying the nudist lifestyle by people who thing anything involving the s-word is bad? OK, nudism isn't about sex, but at the same time, nudists are not asexual either. I don't see a difference whether teens (or people in general) are nude, if they want to do things, they will. It is maybe just more obvious nude, especially for boys/men!

 

Dude, the rules are the same:
If you go to a beach where women wear bikinis, if you make love, it is in your hotel room, not on the beach.

If you go to a nude beach, at least where I live, the nudist beach clubs are determined to protect their beaches from people that think the beach is a cool place for public sex.
Nudists have lots of sex, in private. Anything else is unwelcome.

I said it before: why don't the exhibitionists have sex on a textile beach? Then the only logical thing would be to outlaw swim suits because they cause sex.

 

No there is nothing wrong with having true nudist camps or events for teens, because they are the next ones to carry on the nudist lifestyle. AANR has dome some true nudist camps for youth. I'm sure that there are some out there that may let them do as they wish. We all know that sex does happen, even with teens. This is why they need to be taught that nudity is not ALL about sex.

As (pre-school) children, (and a bit more) - there is no shame, no fear for there is innocence - Education and Respect can come in time.
- Being told "It is wrong because God (of credo) says .." is a lame reason for prohibiting freedom of expression

 

I have no objection to this at all .I am sure all teenagers go nude with friends even if their parents dont know .I know as a teen I did even walked 20 miles through the bush with a crowd of friends guys and gals naked when a camp out got rained off .The jeeps were axle deep in mud and we all got covered in mud trying to dig them out .so in the end washed off in a river chucked off our muddy clothes and walked back to main camp naked .it was a long night .
