this may be old but Im in the same situation! Theres not many people who are similiar to me and get what I say, like and do. I hope by now youve found someone and your happy!
So I know that I don't count as a teen hippie. But I am 21 so I am the same generation as the teens. I can definitely relate to anyone who has a hard time finding people who are near their age and like minded. Living in south Dakota it seems like almost everyone around here looks down on me for dressing like I do having hair like I do and especially the way I think and look at things.
Hello hello, ive been wanting to see a thread like this for ages! i guess you could call me a hippie but i dont like the badge to it so i just live life how i see it. Everyone should hit me up goosee1@hotmail.com or facebook me but ill send ya a pm. add me on here if youd like as well. Thanks for posting this. Peace love and unity ) have a great day.
We're definitely rare, but we are about. That said I know many people fairly aligned with the general hippy views but they just wouldn't call themselves hippies.
I think there was once a sub-forum called 'young hippies'. I doubt there will be another one any time soon. http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=411255
Hey Im a 16 years old guy who wants to become a real hippie. When I was around 13-14 years I wanted to be a rasta, then when I was around 14-15 I didn't think much about the rasta or hippie culture. But now i'm 16, and I feel like i belong to this culture. It would be cool if I can find new hippie friends on this site. But, is it any "rules" that you have to live by to be real hippie? I always wanted long hair, or dreads, but i'm balding and have very thin hair in the front.
i'm turning 18 soon, and know exactly how you feel! i organize peace gatherings, Free-Ins (an event i created where everyone brings food, weed, and things/clothes they no longer need and anyone can take them. we all paint each other and run around the forest), and events where we buy flowers and give them away to strangers. i created these events in hope of feeling that sense of community that the original hippies had, but i am quite lonely here in Ohio. Watching documentaries on the hippie movement, and reading stories from those times make me tear up at the innocent idealism and belief that they could go out and change the world. i know it wasn't perfect, but compared to the general apathy and materialism of my generation; it looks like paradise. However, in the words of the Diggers, "Don't be lonesome for your heroes," BE your heroes
what??? i thought i had to lie about my age! damnit, im exactly 15 and put my birth year as 1950 but si, im a teen hippie! i also have a hard time finding comrades.. it would be cool if us young "neo-hippies" could start a social group or something.. i wouldnt really know how to do that though, just signed up on friday!
I'm not one for labels, but I am 17 and living as close to a natural and "hippie" lifestyle as possible! Lovin' you and everyone
Yeah I know what you mean man, I cant find anyone in my area who has the same iterests and mindset as I do. Like theres no hippies our age it seems like all the "unique kids" our age are into the scene style like looking punk/emo. I think it's just that as teenagers most people feel a need to fit in somwhere so if they dont fit in with the regular people they try to fit in with the hardcore kids. Its rare for us teenagers to be mature enough to already have our own style and not feel a need to fit in and be like everyone else.
Hey guys. What would you say if I mentioned that there are a small dedicated group of original hippies from then, who are working underground to make things happen again? Would you want to have a way to connect?
I would say a kind of collective impact was made on me from being made aware of what went on during the 1960s. I saw it, and I was informed you know the people could be that way. I was pretty fascinated that there was a community of peace and love out there that made such an impact, and I figured if it was here then, it's here now. Something like that doesn't go away. I've been interested in it all since I was like, ten years old. Anyways.
It just goes to show that music has a HUGE affect on people, and young people are still discovering the sweet sounds of the 60's.
That's as much as I'll quote. :2thumbsup: Great read btw. It's nice to know there's other people out there that feel somewhat the same.
