Hey all, I'm new to the board and would first like to say hello to everyone. Next, I just got my first 2 tattoos the other week and one came out fine but the other came out faded in some parts. I took care of them both the exact same way. Washed them with soap when I first got them, applied neosporin for a week, now I'm using lotion. What my question is, is the fading my fault for not taking more/extensive care of it or did the guy fuck up on it? A few friends of mine said that they fucked up and I should go back for a redo. Thanks in advance.

I don't think it was the tat guys fault nor would I say it was yours either. Everyone's skin takes ink differently. About 2 months ago I just got another tattoo and its an all black one. Some spots just didn't take as well. So I went in and they touched it up for free. Most tat guys will touch it up for free....just give them a call.

So are we going to be lucky enough to see a pic of your new ink ;) ?

Any parlor worth its salt will do a fill for free. Ask them.

Neosporin will suck ink out of a tattoo as well.

But it comes with it. All of my tattoos are solid,
and they all have spots. The one on my forearm
that goes all the way around had dark spots, light spots
scars, etc, but that is what I wanted, an old rugged tattoo.

Fortuantly the guy sucked, so it came out all ragged looking.
    like i wanted lol.

But I don't understand why one came out good but the other didn't? One is on one forearm and the other is on my other forearm. I will give them a call and see if I can get touched up for free. Thanks people.

And yes I have a pic of it, but I am new here and haven't yet figured out how to upload pics. If you want you can email or IM me and I will send ya the .jpg

it was most likely the artist's fault... you should call 'em back and explain your situation, they should fill the spots for free.

Yeah SG, it just needs a little touch-up. I had to have two of mine filled a little more after they set. You have to wait a certain amount of time (to let the original inking heal completely) before you get the touch-up done. Like someone else mentioned earlier in the thread, most will do this for free for a certain amount of time (a year?).

Ah okay, this is good news as I do not have the money to pay to have it redone.

Cool, thanks Elle. Glad to run into another PJ fan, not many people know who they are now a days or like them. I need to get the actual words Pearl Jam around the stickman because everyone asks me what it is. I've gotten to the point to where I don't even explain it anymore when someone asks, I just tell them it's a stick figure. I also like SoundGarden, hence my SG name here. I am going to get a tat of a huge SG on my shoulder/arm when I get some more cash. I will probably end up with about 4 or 5 tats before I am done haha.

I would get a spoonman if I knew what one looked like lol. I am just going to get the letters S and G on my shoulder. But they will be combined so the SG will be like one letter. It's hard to explain, would have to show you a picture. I also might get the Pearl Jam beetle on my right calf, not sure yet. I need some cash first, tats are pricey around here.

Elle, go get a band tat trust me you'll love it. The only thing wrong with mine is that I need to get the band name tat'ed next to the stickman so people will know what it is.

Oh and what started this thread...I emailed the place I got my tats at asking if they do free touch ups and they haven't responded yet, I will give them a few more days then call them (email saves cell phone mins). This spider really needs some work, turned out crappy.

I like your tat's very much!

And about band tats (and spiders): Sig other has the Metallica symbol on his arm, with spider webs in it and a spider hanging from it. I think it rocks on so many levels, he's a Metallica fan, but the older stuff is better (hence the cobwebs) and he's afraid of spiders. So it all works for him. You can see alittle of it here:
