The friggin' Israelis believe they're superior to everybody-they're not. What they're doing to those people completely violates the Jewish religion (most Zionists are atheists anyway). Check out www.jewsagainstzionism.com ;it's an organiztion of Jews that says some really courageous things about how modern Zionism is a total violation of real Judaism. To show the Palestinians who's boss, they'll tear up a whole region of Palestine over the life of one soldier. They send a real clear message that Arab lives are basically worthless in comparison to Israeli lives-that's exactly the way they want us to see it.

Well most of the US public are only aware of what's happening with the Israeli solider. They never even saw the press release on the beach bombing. They didn't see the kids that had come up from the water to find bits and pieces only left of their parents. These people weren't armed they were in swimming suits on vacation with their families.

    Thanks for the SPAM.

These are the same pricks who danced in the streets and passed out candy when America was attacked!

These are the pricks who send thier women and children out as suicide bombers!

What Palistianian People reallly need is: democracy, freedom, the rule of law, property rights and respect for human life. Human life is valued very low in Palistine.

Under a capitalist system, the Animal Energies that would otherwise be directed to War are channeled into productive enterprise which improve society.

Palistinians need a better goverment, A goverment who can enforce peace by stopping terrorists in its country.

Palestians need to be able to get on with their lives in a country that was allocated to them without fearing bombing by the Israelis. Israelis don't do suicide missions...no they just murder innocent people on a beach and get away with it. They have the artillery to do it and US support. How can they respect human life, when the Israeli's take those of their families and children everyday and get a pass on it. Their working lives are controlled by Israeli borders and curfews. What about Rachel, she wasn't carrying a gun, she was there protecting the children. She was run over by an Israeli bulldozer.

Remember if you are old enough another fighter for democracy and human rights: (1989) He and other college students lead a parade in Tiananmen Square complete with a float of the Statue of Liberty. It was televised on US tv, they were disbanded and controlled by military tanks and firepower.

We don't know what happenned to him, but we gave China "Most Favoured Nation" status under Bush. Nike, Walmart and many other countries now prosper off their cheap labor. And the students that demonstrated for democracy are probably all now dead. These were college students, think about it young "hippy" wantabes.

Wow, wee, I just feel all warm and fuzzy all over. Since we live in a capitalist sysyem, I guess all of our productive enterprises are being spent to improve society. The fact is that, as President Eisenhower warned would happen, the enormously wealthy defense contractors in this country have a vested interest in seeing war occurr, since they're making enormous profits off of it. We spend more money on the military than the 4 countries that are below us on the military spending list put together. We have far more nuclear weapons than any other country, and spend tens of billions of dollars every year to maintain a nuclear weapons force. Israel is the only country in the Middle East that has nuclear weapons, about 250 warheads, that we never say a word about-we just unquestioningly support Israel, they can do what they please. It's a literal miracle that the world hasn't been blown all to smithereens by some horrible nuclear accident, given the large number of weapons that we and a few other countries possess that are on constant alert. The United States is the country that invented nuclear weapons (today a very profitable business) and most other "weapons of mass destruction" and is the only country to have ever used them against another, and we spend so much energy pointing the finger at other countries that "might" be developing one crude nuclear bomb. What a total bunch of hypocrisy.

    Psychological strain shows on Gazans

Caption:palestinian health ministry: 42 children showed 'strong fear'
The psychological effects of the Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip on the 1.4 million citizens of the narrow territory are starting to show, doctors say. An Israeli air strike, which damaged Gaza's power supply, has already caused problems for hospitals providing dialysis and other treatments requiring a regular power supply. But doctors are now seeing a rise in the number of emotional problems being presented at clinics.Dr Iyad al-Sarraj, a psychiatrist in Gaza, said women and children have been coming in larger numbers on a daily basis since the beginning of the Israeli military assault on the Gaza Strip. The number of the mental health patients during this period was significantly higher than in previous periods, he said.An official in the Palestinian ministry of health told Aljazeera.net that 78 women and children suffered from psychological problems as a result of the 44 Israeli bombings on Thursday night.Eight lost consciousness and 42 children exhibited "strong fear".Dr Moaweya Hasanin, the emergency director in the ministry of health, said: "The continuous bombing of the Gaza Strip and the strong sonic booms, which are part of the Israeli military's aggressive action against the residents, cause environmental acoustic pollution and brain haemorrhage for the new born children."

    Health disaster
Doctors say the lack of electricity is a health hazard because food is going bad without refrigeration and clean water cannot be pumped."The cut of power on the commercial refrigerators resulted in the invalidation of food such as meat and fish."Drinking water and waste water are being mixed with each other as a result of the loss of power for the pumping motors," Hasanin said.Sun exposure was creating further problems for people stranded at the closed Rafah border."They number more than 600 and are directly under the sun's rays which cause different diseases," Hasanin said.Mamoun Ahmed, who owns a dairy, said: "I started to reduce production and plan to stop it completely because the dairy products depend completely on refrigerators. The loss of power stopped the work of the massive refrigerators at the factory."Shopkeepers also started to return products as they grow sour because their refrigerators don't work."
    International role
On Friday, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), called for Israel to allow urgent medical supplies into Gaza.Dorothea Krimitsas, an ICRC spokeswoman, said Israel was obliged under international law, including the Geneva Conventions, to ensure that humanitarian supplies reach Palestinian civilians."We are negotiating with Israel to allow in humanitarian aid. These are essential medicines and medical supplies for the Palestinian Red Crescent," Krimitsas said."We are concerned at the humanitarian consequences of the escalation of violence and closure of crossing points to Gaza, especially the Karni crossing," she said."We are worried about the fuel stocks. Palestinian authorities have estimated that they have enough for about seven to 10 days."Karni is Gaza's main commercial crossing, through which virtually all trade between Israel and the impoverished coastal strip must pass. This is the thing: We (The US) have furthered the conflict between these people to a boiling point. Everyone thinks they are therefore "entitled" to the holy land because that is what everyone has told them. They have been given weapons and dire motivation by none other than our crooked government.

The thing is, that it is, afterall, HOLY land. It can not, therefore, belong to anyone but God. People have stopped thinking clearly over there. They have lost sight of the real meaning of the land they inhabit. If they could realize that it was everyone's land because God created everything then they could try and see a common goal: Living Peacefully in a land provided for worship. Am i wrong? I guess i just do not see the point in all this fighting.

we should, however, feel some responsibility for the unrest that we have caused for these people. We should take action to protect someone if not everyone... but then where do we draw the line? We can not be world police...and anything that our government does at this point is going to be critized... so how do we do this???????

President Carter, President Clinton and Madeline Albright did a lot of work to bring an impartial settlement to The Holy Land. These Statesmen tried to arbitrate between the warring parties. Mr. Arafat rejected terms and walked away from the table to start an infinata. Mr. Arafat should have accepted those terms all of those Palistinians would have been better off.

Like Mr. Bush and Iraq, Arafat made a big mistake If you want war, you better be able to back it up.

Do the Palestinian people acknowledge Israel and its right to exist ?

I'd like to know why for days the US news covers the plight of one Soldier. But just barely covers the death and destruction wreaked on Palestine by the Israelis. We just hear vague comments like they bombed the headquarters of Hamas, how many innocents were killed in these bombings? We hear all the gorey details of a few suicide bombers that are trying to get the point acrossed to Israel to back off, but never the details of Palestinian deaths.

And Arafat won the Nobel peace prize in 1994:

    http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/1994/index.html

It wasn't until Sharon came into power that the hostilities broke out again. Time to read your history folks, there is no one totally evil side, there are evil individuals that try to manipulate the times for their own means.

And it is part of the New American Century folks plan to control the middle east for large corporate and Israeli interests. It's on their agenda and they are pushing that agenda ahead.

God our media is so fucked up. We hear about all these horrible things that the "infidels" are doing, and then stuff like this happens and you have to go digging through the internet to find it! I don't really know what America should do. We should never have taken Palestinian land and given it away, but we did. Now we can't really leave Israel by themselves because they are one of our most important allies! It would definitely be the right thing to do to stop giving them aid, but realistically, Bush would never do that.-

Mr. Arafat appeared to speak at The UN wearing a side arm. He called for jihad untill his dying day. He was a big part of the problem.

even though america is traditioanlly very pro-israel the US did not give palestine to the jews it was britain and even before it was official there were mass migrations towards the promised land. Israel does not just hold the land with the protection of the W. powers they have held that land with blood.

I'm jewish and i've always wanted to go to israel because its part of my birthright but seeing whats goign on i don't know if i could spport israel right now.

What do they do for the rest of the world? What do they do for the US? What do they do for the poor in their own portion of the world? Why are they so important?

Certainly they suffered during WWII, but does that give them a pass to annhiliate and terrorize another people
