I think it depends on what kind of harm a person is talking about. That's why you are seeing opposing opinions.

We're not talking about how it seems, we're talking about percentages of people who take a given drug in a certain way, or something along those lines.

Alcohol is more harmful overall, and so far as I can tell alcohol is more dangerous to the individual.

You keep talking about how it makes people feel - I'd like to know exactly how you know this.

How a drug makes someone feel is not grounds for banning it. The effects visible to others generally shouldn't be either, but if you're arguing that they are, again, look at drunks, it's pretty horrifying, unless you're predisposed to irrationally stand up for alcohol - because you're an alcoholic.

The harm caused by illegal drugs is not a reason for the government to do something about those drugs - they're already illegal, how is that working out? More government action in that direction is going to cause more of what's already happening: more harm, and cheaper more plentiful drugs.

This is a problem born of cannabis prohibition, and borne by prohibition in general - unless you're arguing for legalization, the government has already done what you want, and it has already caused the ongoing problems you're complaining about.

The first step in recovery is admitting that you have a problem.

 

Alcoholism is judged by a pattern of harmful alcohol use, which is repeated despite the fact that an objective observer could see the harm associated with it, and judge it's use to be inappropriate for that individual.

You don't have to be drunk all the time to be an alcoholic - you have to have a problem related to drinking.

You refuse to view alcohol in an objective way, and you are irrationally, hysterically hateful towards other drugs - it's very hard to imagine that you're not an insecure alcoholic (and maybe/probably, a user of these other drugs) making excuses.

I enjoy being drunk. I enjoy more by listening to Mozart's 40th symphony or Chopin's nocture no 20 when I am drunk. Is this a problem? I enjoy the songs I like way better when I am drunk. You see it as a problem?
