Hipster: one which is never behind trends. Usually at the cutting-edge of fashion trends.

I usually associate them with youth culture, charisma, liberalism, a dash of New Age geek, and arrogance perhaps.

Edit: Oh, and they usually pretend not to be concerned with their appearance when in fact they are. In excess of many people who dress within the mainstream.

Basically, taste in women are divided in four categories (as this thread made perfectly clear):

1) Virgin Marys

2) hipsters

3) skanks

4) girls-next-door

I can deal with the last two. You seem to like #2 and #4.

But I think you're way off with the hipster thing.

 

There's no way the girl with black nails and eye-liner is not a hipster, dude. Ask anybody.
