That depends on what the surgery is, what its for and whether its possible for you to have an epidural.. Following whatever surgery, I think it is unwise not to want analgesics. I have and am wearing morphine patches, a large bottle of oromorph and a box of DF118s (Dihydrocodeine and Paracetomol).

There's one called Tramadol, Jennifer. I find it useful in treating sciatica, which I'm experiencing today incidentally. You could ask about it if you're curious. :)

But at higher doses it is a respiratory suppressant.*

They will have me and ICU after I get out of surgery and I will have a tube down my throat don’t know how long that’ll be in me

It’s protocol with the person who has lung problems to be put and ICU right after surgery they will have me on a ventilator during surgery hopefully I will do fine with that and I will come off of that soon

    omg!

    That's so serious. :-S

I hope everything works out. I know they were complaining of ventilator shortages in some places.

I have a ventilator at home it’s noninvasive ventilator those are what they are using for people with the virus the ventilator that I would have during surgery actually goes down my throat

You really need to discuss with your doctors.
Obviously your options are limited, due to your respiratory condition. On the occasion that you mentioned, it is possible that this was overlooked when you morphine dose was calculated. All too often specialists in one discipline overlook other conditions that can inter-react.
Following a bad experience, it is easy to write a treatment off that may have simply been miscalculated.
Any surgery you receive and its after-treatment, MUST involve discussions with your respiratory and cardiac consultant prior to going ahead,

You can try recovering without pain meds but have them hand if the pain becomes too severe. Use them when needed and get off them as soon as possible.
